Just been watching Scuzz (which is a rock music channel for the ignorant) and on the late night news show they are having a female-led bands special this week. There were a lot of good bands showcased, some of which I already listen to and some that the show has bought my attention to.

Looking back through recent rock video threads no-one seems to have posted any bands with female rockers on the mic (or instruments) so I thought I should start a thread on it.

There were about 4 or 5 folk of different generations either singing along or tapping their feet.

Still a great record over 30 years on imo.....any others to add to the list.

When I was a youngster, we used to have a thing called a 'casette' and you used to record music to them.

I used to make compilations by recording off my favourite vinyl, or tape to tape.

You can generally fit 10 songs on one side of a 90minute casette!

If you had to make a 10 song compilation now, what 10 songs would be on it (maximum 2 songs from same artist)??

-Earth, Wind and Fire - September

-D-Train - You're the one for me

-Evelyn King - I'm in love

I've seen this guy on TV a couple of times. Very good for a white boy

Recently signed up by Motown, his first album has just been released, He is known as Waylon. Apparently as a teenager he toured with Waylon Jennings, hence the name, and was a protege. I've heard 2 tracks off the album and he really is quite good IMO.

I went along, but more to meet the guy and ArturoLupoli (Steve) who's band were also due to play as support, unfortunately ArturoLupoli (SuperLupoli in here??)has pig flu, so wasn't there.

Anyway, Wilko and myself went to see the band play, admittedly I wasnt really there to judge his music cos quite simply I've never been able to take Troy seriously! ...

After a shitty day, what tunes do you play to chill out? I'll occasionally go for 'aggression therapy' with the likes of The Prodigy or some 90's Techno but more commonly i'll chill out with these beauties:

The Leisure Society - Last of the Melting Snow

Air - All I Need

Groove Armada - At The River

DeVotchka - How it ends

Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Chill Out)

OK, you can pick up to 10 bands (alive or dead) for your very own music festival - who would you pick?

Give your festival a name and fire away!

GRES-FIELDS

The Specials

Madness

Red Light Company

Kasabian

Stone Roses

Arcade Fire

Placebo

Groove Armada

Chemical Brothers

The Prodigy

Plus a old school hardcore tent with DJ sets by Slipmatt, SY, Brisk, Carl Cox, EasyGroove and a live P.A by Sonz of a Loop da Loop Era

That'd do me nicely!

There are a fair share of music buffs in here. I've been doing this spreadsheet for ages, it has 270 pictures of bands on it and I've hit the wall and cannot get the last few.

If anyone wants a crack at the spreadsheet, it's in Excel format, please PM me an email address and I'll send you a blank one.

In the meantime, who are these bands? :-

Young forum regular MM has declared his dislike for the one thing I thought united the whole world - MUSIC!

This may be due to over-exposure to David Cassidy by his parents. But I'm surprised that peer-pressure hasnt pointed him into the direction of one Genre or another.

So please, look deep into your hearts.

Help MM fall in love with Music, by posting your You-Tube videos here.

thanks

Just thought i'd give you guys a head's up on this band and I was wondering if anyone else likes them. Similar to the Jam and they are heavily influenced by the Clash apparently.

Have a listen:

Right i am in the market for a new MP3 player. I currently have a 3 year old 8gb sony walkman and i love it but it is now starting to struggle and i cannot sync Music to it anymore. So i am looking for a MP3 player, at least 8gb of storage and is generally good.

I have my eyes set on a SanDisc fuza since they were voted the best MP3 player by the UK consumer market.
