August Poster of the Month - Result

Post by Barnstaple Ram on Tue 13 Sep 2011, 8:38 pm

This month has been a strange one for nominations

Usually we have a lot more nominations and then a vote between anyone getting more than 1 nomination.

However this month we only have one member with more than 1 nomination.

Therefore this month there will not be a vote and I declare the winner to be

    STOCKPORT RAM

    Congratulations Stocky.

No vote? That's a bit strange. I didn't think a winner could be declared on nominations only Dunno

I agree... maybe some people didn't nominate in hope of just choosing their favourite from those nominated during the vote. Plus I thought we normally had a week to nominate, or am I wrong?

Ah well will teach me to nominate when I first see it next time I guess... Dunno :lol!:

I knew whichever way I did this would be wrong

I have tried it with secret nominations but people moaned

I have always made the vote between anybody that got 2 or more nominations (and posted the same on many ocaisions) so this month there was only Stocky that did (although notice that a new nomination has been made). Therefore in trying to be fair to members who had received 1 nomination in previous months but not been in the vote I stuck to the same principal

Can't really be bothered with arguing which is best way to do it

Taking into account everything I won't be doing September POTM or any more after that.

Can someone please take over the nominations and voting

I don't think anyone's really that bothered/takes it seriously so I wouldn't worry Barney Thumbs up

(However, maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick and the prize is actually a family car and a trip to Barbados? In which case, why haven't I won yet Dunno )

Congrats Stockie, my only question is...what was Derby's run of form during your last tenure in charge? I'm going to base all future nominations on this :lol!: Now I just need to find out who was the POTM around October/November time 12 months ago...

Take no notice Barney, people will moan whatever happens but they don't have the inclination to do it themselves.

I don't nominate and I don't vote but I think that those that do should be grateful that you oranise it at all.

Ignore the moaners, Barney - you're doing fine. Thumbs up

You've said on more than one occasion that two nominations were needed.

Maybe a closing date for nomination and for votes might help to concentrate minds?
But maybe not - some folk would be late for their own funerals. :harp:

I certainly wasn't moaning if that's what you are all getting at. I just asked a question, didn't realise that you lot class asking a question as moaning and as for having no inclination to do anything myself well that's just laughable and bang out of order.

The little smileys waving the big signs that say "lol" on them, littered in my posts tell you exactly how serious I was being.

It is a serious matter, I would go as far as to say life and death, these awards are of the up most importance and should not be handed out willy nilly. To win one is possibly the highest honour any person can achieve. And if Mr B cannot handle the pressure of organising such a prestigious award, then maybe he should resign graciously.

    :lol!: :lol!: :lol!:

Come on Barney, I did say that'll teach me to nominate sooner. I am completely happy with SR winning it, but if I wasn't, I would know that the blame lies squarely with me for not nominating somebody else. Thumbs up

Maybe I did overreact to the comments
    There are many potential explanations
Maybe I was having a bad day at work
Maybe I was on my period
Maybe Jupiter wasn't aligned with Mars in the 3rd Dimension
Maybe I am missing the banter with Chaz :affraid:
Maybe having my house look like a bomb site for a few weeks has finally got to me

However just to freshen things up I still think it would be a good time for someone else to take over the POTM as I been doing it for a year or so

    Any volunteers

I've got a feeling organising POTM is one of those things that you think "Yeh I can do that, can't be too hard and doesn't take up any time, might be fun." But after a couple of months it becomes a bit of a headache, made worse by the "you can't please all of the people, all of the time" factor. For that reason I think a year is more than long enough for one person to be tied down to it.

So... Despite knowing I will regret it, if you don't get any better offers Barney, I'll do it, at least for a few months, give you some respite.
