It's alright saying that but surely what we need is A creative mid-fielder who has the vision to put the ball into the right areas round the box, lets be Honest if the balls put in the box on A sixpence even Tyson would score.

Sorry but when Tom Tom comes out of hiding and starts discussing transfer targets for the close season the first name that comes to mind is Bull Shit.

I feel Tom Tom will sanction the fee for a new striker next season but from which division and at what price?

    1. A skilful midfielder who can pass to a team mate and create chances for -
    2. A forward who actually scores a goal occasionally
    3. A right wing who can beat a full back once in a while and supply a decent cross
    4. Cover for the two full backs

We could try selling a few keepers, a couple of centre backs and some of our fairly useless midfielders to help towards the transfer and wages budgets.
We might then go some way towards a balanced squad.

Roll up roll up, get your season tickets, come on, we'll be buying a new forward, honest guv. We wouldn't tell fibs, honest.

    B*llsh*tting c*nt.

Funny, last week Nigel was telling us that we couldn't afford a run of the mill CCC striker such as Billy Sharp either in terms of fee or wages, and now we are supposed to believe old billy b*llsh*tter.

Have I got mug tattoed on my forehead?

It does say that they will have a look at all areas not just strikers and we do need better players in almost all areas.

the piece does say that Billy Sharp and the wages he is on at Southampton are completely out of our league. If anyone buys a season ticket purely on the possibility of us signing an unknown striker in the summer then they must have mug tattoed across their forehead.

Strange that transfer talk always re appears in February when season ticket renewals are announced, compared with January when we hear f*ck all about incoming transfers. Our priority to sign a forward wasn't there three weeks ago when we could have addressed the problem it would seem.

Bedders we've had this before, lots of people have bought season tickets in the past on the promise of better next season, that's why they do it, it's called advertising, unfortunately nobody seems to moniter football for false advertising

A striker is always the most glamourous signigg so that will be why Slick is coming out and spouting this - not many fans would get very excited and want to buy a season ticket if he was to say his main priority was signing a new left back.
For me the priority is a left back followed by a right winger as we don't have a real one at the club at the moment. If played right a decent winger on wither side would create the mjority of the chances we require to be created.

I know we have had it before, but surely no one would be mug enough to still believe that we are going to bring in top Championship quality players of any description. Surely declaring the Billy Sharp and his wages are well out or our league should give everyone a hint of the players we will be looking at???

Isn't it just possible that the reason he is talking about signing a striker is that the interviewer asked him directly about the lack of goals in the last 6 matches?

I agree with Bedders on this one, I think Glick has signaled that the reality is we won't be buying any more proven Champiionship players. I'm not sure we can class this statement as bullshit. I think Billy Kee is our most likely striking target.

I also think the club will be proved wrong and we will face another relegation battle and a huge drop in attendences if we can't find a way to afford some decent players.

I disagree with the strategy, but I can't fault the honesty!

Also interesting how Steve Davies is not mentioned as a striking option - he's on his way in the summer I think!

But what is the point of buying yet another run of the mill trier to go into a squad already packed with run of the mill triers. We need two or three quality players that cost a relatively modest amount of money.

Increrasing the quality of the football and the squad without increasing the quality of the players within that squad is impossible so why bother trying to defy logic

Because several players will leave in the summer, eg Savies and we will need enough players to fulfil the fixture list. That way GSE and the owners can carry on trying to wring a profit from the club.
