I was very comfortable with Bernard's COMEDY and he was very original. He was the guy copied by Chubby Brown and the like.

Each to their own I suppose, I've just never found the promotion of intollerance, bullying and hatred particularly funny.

I don't think promotion is the right word, taking the piss more. I saw Bernard live on several occasions and he was a class act. He never went over the line when I saw him. Have you joined New Labour yet, you sound like you would get on well with Harriet and co.

As you obviously like cliched stereoyping, I suppose you'd like it if I made a Nick Griffin joke now. However, I don't, so I won't.

I think it is rather crass to bring a top man like Bernard Manning and he was a top man (the amount he did for one of the poorest communities in Britain was enormous) and the odious Griffin into the conversation.

You may not have liked Bernard's style but when he was at it's peak it was a different time. 100% with Bernard there was never any malice unlike the guy you mention.

Merely pointing out that, if you beieve that someone who does not like the style of 'humour' peddled by Manning, Brown and Davidson must be a New Labour supporter, then it follows that someone who likes the biggoted comics must be a BNP supporter.

As you know there is a world of difference between jesting about Labour who a huge chunk of the country support and a minority party who use hate to fuel their aims, run and supported either by thugs or sheep with crap for brains.

I don't take any offence but politely think your analogy is unfair. I don't think Bernard Manning was biggoted in any way it was all done for fun and what was acceptable in his day is not now. I was no fan of either of the other guys you mention. Pale imitations of the master.

IMO, Bernard Manning was actually hell bent on showing the rest of us how stupid all the -isms are. Be that sexism, racism or whatever.

He was generally funny but did go OTT on occasions. Since the growth of PC (somethingI hate BTW) his humour has become unacceptable.

Watched Alan Clark on the TV last night. Took the piss out of gays, the bullied, the short and afew other stereotypes. He gets away with it, and is found funny by most. How? He is gay, is short, was bullied at school and at work before moving into comedy.

Because he makes the comedy personal, the PC brigade find it acceptable. Were he to make the same jokes about an imaginary 5'3" gay man who was being bullied in the workplace, he would probably be pilloried.

I didn't realise Bernard Manning was a comedian.

    Anyway,

A man with a lump of tarmac on his shoulder goes into a pub. The
barman asks him what he wants to drink. "Two pints please mate, one
for me and one more for the road."

A man walks into a bar with a steering wheel in his underpants.

"Is that painful?" the barman asks.

"It's driving me nuts!" the man replies.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is Alan Clark? I assume you don't mean the late Tory politician (although he was quite funny) or the dirty cheating striker from the 70s?
