    Rod Stewart

Post by Boris on Fri 21 Jun 2013, 11:58 am

Took my wife to see him in Birmingham last night (her Christmas pressie)..went with little expectation as I have never been a big fan. But I have to say he was brilliant, we really enjoyed it and had a great night. Everything about it was class, the set, the backing singers and the musicians he has got were fantastic. He banged out hit after hit, had an ecoustic interlude which was brilliant and even the support act were good. Its great to see 4 musicians on stage each playing the guitar..most of these new acts wouldn't know a musical instrument if one hit them on the head!!

I have seen a few big acts in my time...Neil Young, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, The Jam, The Specials, Madness, Whitney Houston...but I would have to say old Rod was probably the best of the lot...well worth going to see him if you get chance:thum:

I see no reason not to believe you Boris..

Saw him a good 12 years ago in Boston and he was excellent..my sister is a massive fan and saw him for the umpteenth time in Notti#&!=/ and still enjoyed it despite the location.

Not sure he'll ever make it - he's got Scottish roots.

That was the only downside..having the Celtic logo on the drum kit and some footage of them in the background as he sang...

Will be amazed if any of what passes for musical talent these days is still performing in 40 years....actually make that 40 weeks.

This is the original from 1972. Rod was bought in as a session singer for this track as Dave Bentley lead singer of Python Lee Jackson said his voice wasn't right for the song!!!! ............Original band members were David Bentley David Montgomery Mick Liber Tony Cahill & Gary Boyle............ Rod did however perform this in around 2006-2008 with Jeff Beck
