They have an excellent manager, a system which the entire squad believes in, two centre halves who can PLAY (i.e: have a good first touch, can bring the ball out of defence with comfort, and easily find a colleague with a pass on a regular basis, as well as defend), and more than enough replacements.

They are far more well equipped than the unbelieveably lucky Burnley were.
Totally with you Mark to the extent I think we are chasing one place not two cause I think they will take one....in fact I'm convinced they will.

    Spot on.
Bournemouth have a squad of 33 listed on Soccerbase and most are experienced players, not hopefuls.

We have 26 (27 when Thorne is fit), some of whom would be most unlikely to play unless
we have a spate of injuries. Saturday's effort against Southport showed clearly that few
of them would be good enough even against weak opposition.

BTW Ipswich have about the same number in their first team squad as us.

    28 with Barker?

Isn't it true though, that the more players you have, the less of them get game time meaning more "rusty" players?

I'm just not convinced. I know I'm in the minority, but I've seen the wheels come off far too many times for too many teams. The times a team walks the league (Newcastle and Leicester) seem far fewer than teams that stroll to the top and drop off in the final 3rd.

I am also not convinced that Bournemouth will maintain their form. I think if we are still within a point or 2 of the top come mid Feb it will be us that pull away.

I read somewhere that the team top of the Championship at Christmas has gone up in 9 of the last 10 seasons. History is on Bournemouth's side.

It was a flukey goal for the Wendies though.

Huzzah! Rams win away to return to the top two, Scum lose at home, and Bournemouth contrive to lose to ten-man Norwich.

It's our day today. Hope it continues next week.

Boro drew, Ipswich lost to us and Bournemouth lost to 10 man Norwich. Looks like we're technically the form team now.

As I've said prior to this, it was only a matter of time until Bournemouth lost. Now lets see how they react. I think someone mentioned it in the Ipswich match thread, but it's funny that we feel we've been highly inconsistent and yet find ourselves on level points at the top of the table. It feels like we still have another gear or 2 to switch into. Lets get this little run spreading now!

If Bournemouth implode against Rotherham next week, I'll be highly delighted . . .
and astonished to put it mildly. Still, it's a funny old game.

Like us, they've managed to lose to Leeds, so Tuesday week at Elland Road is more hopeful.

We have been inconsistent mainly in the teams we've managed to give points to -
Wigan and Millwall, both in the drop zone and both home games, for goodness sake.
After beating Bournemouth, we lost 4 league games and drew 1 out of 11 matches.

Don't want them to sack him this week or next or the week after that to be honest....too good to be true that we could go top by beating them next week ...banana skin game not to be taken lightly.
