Why isn't McCarthy or Howe being linked?

I think Howe said he wasn't going anywhere earlier this season.
Ultimately I think he is being the manager we are just talking about...content with what he has.

personally would like to think that a) Newcastle fans are too isolated/deluded to accept McClaren as Newcastle manager, and b) McClaren will smell something amiss at Newcastle and know that he would only last until the summer and have to start again.

Funny enough...sad bas*ard that I am now having taken to checking out Newcastle and Everton fans forums....Macs name comes up very little in any discussions I have seen...
What about Igor if he does leave Afraid

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if McClaren went to Newcastle.

Maybe SM has said if we don't go up, then we'll talk?!? Wouldn't surprise me at all

Would be nice to think Mac would stay if we bottle it again but unlikely if a Prem job is on offer. Long gone are the days when a manager would quit the top flight for Derby as Arthur Cox did in 1984!

Well if he goes in the summer pretty sure the club will have some idea this is a possibility and therefore have a plan in place to fill his managers chair.

Personally I think Stevie Mac is one of the best handful of mangers in the English game. I don't know how much time would be enough for Derby to plan for replacing him. But I am basically a pessimist.

Well I agree with you..equally I am sure Swansea were gutted when they lost Martinez after he had taken them up into the championship and had them playing attractive football.
But they got the next appointment bang on and continued to rise.
I'm afraid in today's day and age its inevitable that manager s move on...for that matter it always has been..after all we let the best managerial team there ever was walk out the door.
But we were also champions of England again less than two years later..there is always a option..like I said we just better have all ours in order should he move on...it would stink..But the club will go on and for all we know even better.

Daily Mail reporting that Stevie Mac will be newcastles number 1 target in the summer. Better get us promoted lads.

I could understand SM leaving us for a PL club if we bottle it again this season, but I think he'd be mad to go to Newcastle. Everything you hear about the way that club is run is bad news, and all Ashley wants is a Yes Man who is happy to let other people buy and sell his players for him.

I'd like to think SM has more integrity than that, but I suppose time will tell.

As long as we go up I don't mind if McLaren moves on, because I believe that he replaceable as a top flight club. I would be far more concerned if he went after we failed to go up.
