    Gloucestershire v Derbyshire

Post by RRC on Sun 26 Apr 2015, 1:21 pm

For the second match running, Madsen won the toss and elected to field.
It may not work out any better this time . . .

Gloucestershire 106-2 (30 overs at 3.53) at lunch

Palladino and Thakor took wickets but their batsmen are scoring well off Foottit and Taylor.

275 all out, finished them off quickly. Now a tricky 5 overs or so to contend with before the close....

Great comeback in the final session to swing the game our way. We need to get a lead of 100+ today if possible because heavy rain is forecast on Wednesday, effectively reducing this game to 3 days.

Not sure whether the wicket is easy to bat on as Gloucestershire (according to a supporter I know) aren't really that good. Will have to wait and see - I just hope that Guptill is firing today, if he is hopefully a big score could be in the offing?

Despite losing 3 quick wickets, the situation is looking good as we`re only 40 behind with 6 wickets in hand.
MG has motored past his century at almost a run a ball so let`s hope he`s got plenty more in the tank. Thumbs up

Guppers still going strong on 143.
    Thakers has reached his half-century.
Would be interesting if we signed Mitchell Starc Afraid

It's a pity that Madsen, Durston and Hughes only managed 3 runs between them but at least they
didn't waste many balls (17 in all) before giving up their wickets to Gloucestershire's young
part-time bowler Matt Taylor. He's so new that Cricinfo can't shed any light on his bowling style.

Thanks mainly to Guptill and Sakor, we have 5 batting points, which we didn't achieve very
often last season. Our batting cost us in 2014 - we had the lowest total of batting points in D2.

If the weather holds and our bowlers perform, we stand a good chance of winning.
Anyway, win or draw, it's a massive improvement over last week's effort, even if
Gloucestershire have been a fairly mediocre team for a while.

There's a good report on Guptill and the Derbyshire innings in the Guardian -

Guptill hits 200 again in World Cup reminder

Apparently the Gloucestershire team dropped catches for fun!

Derbyshire la la la, Derbyshire la la la.

Great batting today - exactly what normally happens against us.

NER - don't worry about it raining for two days - everything will be OK!

    Still looks promising . . .

Derbyshire 545-9 declared (with a lead of 270)

Gloucestershire 47-1 (17 overs) at lunch on the 3rd day

Foottit took the only wicket at the end of the 7th over when they had 6 runs on the board.

Footit has just broken their 80 plus partnership in the last over of the day. They are 17 behind with 6 wickets down. Weather forecast ok so should be all over by lunch Party

Frustrating period..they are 8 down but now 132 ahead. Need to finish them off sharpish or it could end in a tight run chase...
