    Keepers were worse...We were better.

Stadiums were worse....as were pitches..But not a rent a fan to be seen.
No piped goal music..no over the top goal celebrations...mud and atmosphere a plenty.
No "how important was that goal in the race for fourth" commentary.
We all have our own opinions but what they tell me is great football and entertainment is not even close to the raw passion and grit that surrounded the game back when we were good.

Obviously competing for the biggest prize in English football is the ultimate for any fan.

We're most unlikely to find ourselves in that position again, so maybe those of us who were around
back then should count ourselves very lucky and enjoy our memories, but we need to move on.

Enjoy what we have now, be positive and hope to improve a bit each season, rather than being
disappointed at every setback and lamenting what might have been.

I'm not disappointed at any setbacks we have hit this season JO.
Just the circus surrounding them and the suspect going on.
I expected more I really did probably really naive of me but I did.
I wanted to believe loyalty and dedication still existed in football ...but it doesn't .( well seemingly it doesn't we shall soon see )
The Rams went a long way to me falling back in love with football last season because of the style they played...football was enjoyable again.
But I no longer truly love football as I did back in the 70s.
Today's game is way too plastic....almost scripted even ..for my liking.

It's no longer the game I played as a kid or man for that matter.
Reckon I would be hard pressed to name one team full of players I admire as players or people in today's game.

I enjoy looking back....nothing is perfect and times were far from perfect back then.
But I didn't need the media to promote games or tell me who was great ...we all worked that out for ourselves .
There is no mystery in today's game no mystique .
    Just 24/7 Media Bullshi* .
For me I certainly have to look back to remind myself why I fell in love with football .
