    Glamorgan v Derbyshire

Post by RRC on Sun 03 May 2015, 7:08 pm

After a lengthy rain delay at Sophia Gardens, play started at 2.40pm with Glamorgan winning
the toss and electing to field, but only 15.5 overs were possible before the rain returned.

Derbyshire lined up with Chesney Hughes replacing the banned Billy Godleman and Scott
Elstone in for the injured Martin Guptill. Thakor, Hosein and Alex Hughes are playing but Tony
Palladino and Tom Taylor are absent. The bowlers are David Wainwright, debutant 19 year-old
leg-spinner Matt Critchley from the Academy, Ben Cotton and Mark Foottit.

Derbyshire lost Chesney Hughes (c Meschede b Wagg for 9) and Madsen (b Carter for 1).

Derbyshire 47-2 (Slater 25 no, Elstone 2 no)

With both sides doing their best to lose the match, the Welsh weather looks like winning.
As on day 1, play on day 3 is being delayed by rain.

    Derbyshire 205 (Slater 53, Elstone 48, extras 34 including 20 no balls)

    Glamorgan 103-4 (Thakor 2-11)

Glamogan declared 102 behind so that a contrived result can be achieved tomorrow. Unfortunately with the weakened team we have out I can't really see anything other than a draw as we won't score runs quickly enough. Nevertheless there is always the distinct possibility of a Derbyshire collapse leaving a total of circa 200 for the Welshmen to chase  Afraid
