Kent v Derbyshire (Div 2 at Canterbury)

Post by RRC on Sun 07 Jun 2015, 2:33 pm

    So far, so good -

    Kent 146-7 (Foottit 4-35, Palladino 2-10)

Now wouldn't it be great if we polished off their innings quickly and our batsmen made
    a match-winning first innings total? I can dream . . .

He might have a chance if he moved to Middlesex. Does he have the right sort of
family background? Does he whistle in the dressing room? There are so many things
that players need to get right before they fit the England template these days.
Playing good cricket doesn't seem to be very high on the list.

Many moons ago I played on the County Ground in Canterbury with the Derby Sportsmen's Association, fielding near the large tree was good on a very hot day.

We beat Kent County Constabulary, lets hope Derbyshire can get some points on the board and start pushing up the table.

    Kent 199 for 8

Are there no depths to which we can plummet ? And to think they're getting paid for batting like that.

    Watch this space . . .
You'd think they'd had to face Australia's opening bowlers on a green top,
not Kent's collection of medium pace bowlers. I despair!

67-7 from 27 overs at close of play.

Thanks to Poynton (19 n.o.) and Palladino (11 n.o.) that it isn't more humiliating.

Would seventeen wickets in one day bring the pitch inspectors to Derby? Not sure they will find their way to Canterbury.

Make that 30 wickets before tea on Day 2!

Kent 2nd innings 112 all out in 36.4 overs (White 6-25)

Derbyshire need 232 to win - some hope!

This 4-day match could be all over on the second day.

I didn't see that coming when I checked the score at half past 12!

I am fully confident Boris that, yes, we could indeed lose from here.

Pleasant surprise sounds an interesting pitch, bit different to the one we played on at Wingerworth yesterday, spent more time looking for the ball smashed into the neighbouring foliage than playing cricket.

I listened to 20 minutes commentary today and the commentator was adamant that there was nothing wrong with the pitch but that the bowling from both teams had been superb. This was when Derbyshire were about 10-1. What happened next might back that up I suppose. The way we can seemingly lose wickets in clusters of 5 makes me believe that it is not yet over.
