Knew it was coming, but I find myself shaking my head at it.
Think it's because I thought of SM as an honourable coach and manager with Derby's best interests in mind.

    Clearly not.

Good riddence , and here's to seeing these two teams in black and white swap leagues next year! COYR

Not a surprise. Tough job though keeping the natives happy up there. I bet many of them aren't that happy about this appointment.

Good move for him, I'm sure he'll do ok as long as they provide him with good players. If I were them though I'd make sure that he is nowhere near the decision making when it comes to selecting those players. I'd also move him on quicker than we did when a bigger club comes calling.

I wonder where we'd be now if we'd let him go in January because I reckon we could be playing in the premiersh*t by now if we had.

I bet the Newcastle interest took him by surprise as much as it did the rest of us, what a happy coincidence.

I predict that Newcastle will start off well & the geordie fans will be dreaming of the champions league. Then around Christmas they'll hit a rough patch, most fans will say they never wanted him in the first place, some off-field drama will arise & Newcastle will finish between 8th - 13th. After the next window of over-priced overseas signings that flop, Mac will be given his P45 & a big pay-off by the end of the 2016-17 season.

    Now you're talking, LR.

For a non East Midland Ram like me, that would be better than the Commons-inspired beating of Florist in the F A Cup.

Yes, I saw the interview on SKY, not sure if you did Chicken?? What he actually said was that he always wanted the Newcastle job but the offers he had were never at the right time. He was offered the job while he was Manager of Middlesbro, again when he was managing abroad and again in January when managing the Rams. He turned down the job in January because it was not the right time. He had a job to do with the Rams, a consistent message and stance he has taken throughout. Anyway, we told him to f*ck off so he's entitled to do what he wants, he's a man in demand and has gone to a bigger club in the Premiership. If we get to play them in the future and he comes back to the Ipro, I for one will stand up and give him a big round of applause Clapping

The other way one could look at it then Boz would be that he didnt want to be at Derby he WANTED to be at the Toon and his heart wasn't in it at Derby. He could say whatever at Derby, but clearly then, he didnt want to be here.

So why then didn't he take the job when offered in January Hector? If he is this mercenary that so many on here try and make out he would have been gone then surely..bigger club, Premiership, bigger salary etc etc??? As he said at the time he had a job to do with us.

I really don't know.... Could it have been that he thought we where going up? As i've said before i always thought(wrongly or rightly) that he did say NO but then seemed to always put a BUT in at the end.
We can debate it forever, only person who really knows what went on, and ultimately wrong, is Macca.

TBH i don't care about Macca now, we've moved on to hopefully bigger and better things. COYR

I have done a complete turn about on Mac the traitor since reading his mealy mouthed words in the Mirror today. He admits to not saying no in January and hints he would go at the end of the season. Explains why Carter got the caretaker job when clearly out of his depth. Also explains why Mac did a wonderful job till Newcastle's first approach and why he turned into an amateur hour coach afterwards. He would have looked a right clown leaving us after getting promotion don't you think.

I always supported him from the get go but now I hop his next shit is a hedgehog and he acvhieves what Carver narrowly  managed to avoid, relegation.

at best he is a naïve idiot at worst a blatant disloyal liar and I know which one I'd put my money on

Do you think he was sacked solely because he failed to get us into the play offs?

Actually I don't really care.  I'm glad he's gone, he's a goon and as if turns out a liar.
