    Lift Share - a new fan's initiative

Post by chicken on Fri 14 Aug 2015, 12:08 pm

I've received a message today regarding an official new Football League site that's been co-developed by a travel company called Liftshare.

It's basically a page called 'Get to the Game,' and it's for fans of all clubs like Derby County to enter their favourite team, pick a home or away fixture and then see at a glance all the cheap and convenient travel methods available to them.

They're actually on the official Derby County site, just down to the right of their fixture list:
    http://www.dcfc.co.uk/fixtures-results/

It's all about helping fans save cash, avoid expensive trains, get to fixtures when there's a strike or when coaches aren't available, and organising road trips to away games together.

Liftshare built the tool for the Football League and is a site that helps people organise car shares/car pools/road trips and split petrol costs. It's far cheaper than train.

The Football League's announcement is here:
    http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2015/the-football-league-begins-new-travel-partnership-with-liftshare.com-2581430.aspx

    And Liftshare.com is here: http://www.liftshare.com

Check it out, you may find it useful in the future.

Seems a good idea especially for those that would often travel alone

They run something similar for businesses, my previous employer gave parkign priority to those that car shared

Liftshare are also looking for fans to comment and review games if anyone is interested.

Firstly they require answers to these questions

    1) How does the local area get whenever Derby are playing at home? – Is it a nightmare to travel across, does public transport get crazy, is it hard to get parked?
    2) How expensive is it to follow Derby to every away match when there’s no fan coaches available?
    3) What’s your view on paying for trains to away games?
    4) What do you think of Liftshare’s deal with Football League to help clubs like Derby County give cheaper travel to fans, and lower transport chaos around Pride Park during games? (Might you use it, what do you like about it?)

There is a similar system over here, not aimed at any particular group like this one seems to be.

It's called "bla bla car". You enter where you are going from, to and when plus whether you are driving there. It matches folk up and you split the costs. Cushty!

Hi folks, Dave here - I'm the guy who got in touch with chicken over Facebook. I'm working with Liftshare and the Football League to start getting fan feedback on the new site, as it'll help us grow it moving forward with your help. This was designed for the fans and we'd like to make it as useful as possible.

I know MadAmster mentioned BlaBlaCar, they're the French version of Liftshare, while LS is based in England. Feel free to check out both the FL page and Liftshare to see if it's something you might use, and do give us a shout if you have any thoughts - we can help make this a really useful service for Football League fans everywhere over time.

    Thanks guys! :)
