That would appear a strange career choice for Nigel. It seems a bit of a hiding to nothing. If he gets them promoted it will be because of the work that JFH has done. If he fails to achieve promotion then everyone will be saying that he is second rate and cost Burton promotion.

Even if Burton do go up, what does Nigel do next? They are never going to have the cash to compete for promotion in the Championship, and it will take a huge effort for them to even avoid relegation. At best case Nigel proves that he can keep a side in the Championship with peanuts to spend, at worst he will destroy his reputation. It just doesn't seem like a good career move to me.

I think it would be a decent move for him. There's certainly a lot of romance in it and if he gets them up to the Championship it would be a great achievement also we know their chairman is very patient

I wish him luck. He didn't get to celebrate the promotion he built when he was there last time so I hope he can celebrate this time.

He deserves to walk into a club on the rise - his two previous jobs have been stopping Franz Klammeresque downhill slides of clubs, which I believe he did successfully. In fact, he left them both heading in the right direction.

This is an altogether different challenge, and I wish him well.

I too wish him luck, I still think he would of got us up, but get that the slow and steady wins the race didn't suit a good number of fans.

Hope it works out for him.

I wish him nothing but good luck, he knows the situation at the club and will have no illusions as to what is achievable and what could follow if promotion is gained.

Its worth bearing in mind that JFH achieved promotion and the plaudits on the back of the good work of Gary Rowett, so if Nigel gets them up then he will deserve praise for his contribution.

    Thumbs up

Totally agree with those sentiments Syd but as with anything, joining a club on the crest of the wave leaves the manager vulnerable to ridicule if that momentum is not kept going, and on that point alone I feel this could be a backward step for Nigel. Just lets hope he succeeds.

Hope he succeeds - did a great job at Derby on a shoestring budget - unearthed a lot of gems considering the budget

shame he was as stubborn as his dad but not as good - more plan b and we would have got promotion (in around 2023)
