Playlist for my 50th Birthday bash

Post by Boris on Sun 31 Jan 2016, 9:19 pm

I am having a joint birthday party with my mum...I am 50 she is 80. We have organised dancing for the oldies, I am doing a quiz and then it's a disco for the youngsters (well mostly those around 50 LOL ). I am in the process of compiling a playlist for the DJ. I have so far around 40 songs, mainly 80's classics. Can people let me know some classic dance tunes that you would choose so I can add a few decent ones to the list...thanks

Congratulations, MA. I've been to lots of birthday bashes and I can honestly say that apart from Tainted Love I've never heard any of the songs in your list. Judging by the titles they sound good. Are you a specialist DJ ?

Heart of Glass - Blondie was a guaranteed floor filler when I used to DJ similar things in the 80s

The key thing was then to play stuff with the same tempo / beat that folks know.

Anything slower the Heart of Glass would drag people off the floor.

Hi Ho Silver Lining was always interesting towards the end of the evening in North Derbyshire / South Yorkshire / West Midlands! (I'd never play it if beer was served in glasses!).
