Of course not - it will be even more of a drain on domestic leagues than the Prem.

An American billionaire is said to be behind this. I doubt he gives a hoot about football of any kind,
not even the Super League except that it's a chance to print money. Greed is good, isn't it?

The story was also in the Daily Telegraph etc, but the clubs have denied that any meeting took place.
Well, they would, wouldn't they? (to quote another harlot)

They should just go completely and not come back.
Let's face it apart from this season where the premier league has actually been exciting.
The championship has plenty of excitement and interest.
Screw doing it part time these clubs should just leave altogether...that said good luck trying that or even branching out into yet another competition as I reckon fans of the above teams would kick off.

This is a story that has been appearing most seasons at around this time of year. Is it me being a little cynical or is it around now that chairmen  from the teams in the Premiership sit round a table and discuss future income with those in charge? Shocked

not quite but on the right lines Sawl. This is the start of the negotiations for the new tv rights for the Champions League. There have been murmurings of wild cards for 'the big clubs' who miss out on qualification at the expense of plucky triers like Leicester and Spurs and this is an extension of that.

Could not possibly happen soon enough. Only people I'd feel sorry for are the small number of real football fans left following each of these clubs. Can't imagine the cost of tickets, even though TV revenue will be so high the clubs could afford to literally give them away free. Obviously they'd never do that.

Premiersh*t clubs could afford to do thst next season under the new tv deal but, so far nvery few of them are prepared to keep them the same let alone reduce them.

Heard that someone (could have been Rumminigge) had suggested that Champions League should just be for the top 5 leagues in Europe only

Van Gaal, Hiddink and Wenger are against it. I'm with them.
