    If a footballer takes drugs....

If a footballer takes drugs should that footballer alone take the blame or should the team suffer?

Its really down to the player, like any other part of society, I think drugs would have helped us (fans) under Clements that's for sure .

It depends on the source of the drugs. If the player has decided to either use recreational or performance enhancing drugs on his own, and the club has no knowledge of them, then the blame clearly lies directly with the player. The player should be fined and banned and probably made to go on a rehabilitation programme.

However, if the idea of taking the drugs originates form anyone within the club (probably a physio or team medic), then the club should be punished heavily. It's cheating and far worse, it risks doing permanent harm to the player. In this case the club should face an enormous fine and be relegated to the 6th tier.

The clubs should test the players routinely. Does anybody honestly believe that football stands alone as a sport without a drug problem? It isn't in the clubs interest to left the lid on drug taking so they keep their heads down and do nothing.

Voted yes. They shouldn't do drugs. They ought to be routinely tested by the club. This would also help curtail any heavy drinking that might still go on. It would prevent another tragedy like Gazza and others who ruined their (and other's) lives through their drinking.

If the club is the source then hit the club as well.

The money that football now generates gives individuals and collectives the incentive to go that "extra mile" in order to maximise reward.

Responsibility should be with clubs to regularly test their employees to ensure they are drug free whether it be recreational drugs or otherwise.
