    Congratulations to Burton

Post by thatguyfromderby on Mon 09 May 2016, 1:42 pm

I just want to extend a huge congratulations to Burton on their promotion to the Championship. What an absolutely incredible achievement. Well done to the Brewers.

If we don't go up, it'll nice to welcome the lads from down the road to the iPro.

I fear his fear of losing will hurt them next season.

Far less money at his disposal than he had here when we were stoney broke. It will be a case of raiding the Conference (or whatever it's called these days) and the Scottish equivalent thereof. Anything above 16th would be amazing.

Expect he will come for Jake but will go to Scotland for the strikers the team desperately needs.
It is a great achievement for a very small club and in its own way as big a story as that of Leicester.
Well done to everyone concerned. But you gave us a very nervy afternoon.

Dead chuffed for them, make a change to have a local Derby with a decent club.

I hope if Jake is given the chance to join them he takes it, the lad deserves to play some football and he'd be a brilliant signing for them.

....Or Poland, or wherever else they came from....

I recall that records of Schteeve and Nigel were almost identical in their first (almost full) seasons at Derby and Sheff Utd respectively - 22 wins, 8 draws, and only a handful of defeats.

This season, one has been sacked, and one has achieved promotion.

he wasn't there to receive the plaudits when his stewardship virtually assured Burton of league football when he came to Derby, so its only fair that he has ridden somewhat on the coat tails of his predecessor this time around.

Congratulations to Nigel and his team.

It is certainly a great achievement for such a small club. Just think they will be playing Villa and another former European Cup winner in the league next season

I too originate from Burton but am glad the owd fella was a Ram. He always said the Albion fans were ignorant of football. They booed or similar every pass that wasn't forwards...... didn't understand the finer points of the game.

I remember them winning the Southern League Cup. 1960 I think it was. A year before my Derby baptism. Played on Eton Park myself when I was 14 against Albion Reserves.

Shame we won't be playing them next season......

That's where my mum's from, so I have a real warmth for them. I wish my grandad was still around to see this, he'd be absolutely loving it.

I'm sure attitudes will change if they become a consistant rival of ours but for the time being it's a remarkable story of a local team done well. Most Rams fans will have looked out for Burtons results over the years, helped by the fact that Radio Derby covered their matches alongside the Rams.

Personally I have many small connections with Burton, as I'm sure many Rams fans will with them being so close geographically, so I'm dead pleased that they will be playing in the Championship next season and wish them all the best.

I think my only connection with Burton is a negative one, having drunk a whole 4 pints of Pedi in the same evening, back in 1980!  Never again!

I have a feeling that Burton will go the same route as Leicester... not by winning the Prem of course, but by being local without the label of "Rivals"! Whatever
