I don't think Pearson is to blame really, he inherited an unbalanced squad on huge contracts, who clearly haven't ignited much interest. In the end we have moved on two players who have proved they can do it for and the idiot Rush has managed to mess up one of them, that shows what Pearson is up against.

Add to that big clubs coming down and claiming most of the available good players for the level and it is tough for us to strengthen.

All we can hope for is the new lads can offer a bit more pace and guile with Vydra and George Thorne's last operation worked because we look a much better team when he plays.

Until GT is fit we play Hanson in that role. Are you reading this NP?

I agree - and here's the proof (btw it's a 4 year deal as usual)

sorry, but Anya is not a good player...like MA has said....bottom 3rd this season for us. especially if we are signing worthless players like that Anya. Bang head i hope to god i am wrong, but i feel we missed our chance to actually strengthen this team. god help us if we have to pin our hopes on Bent and Blackman if we get any more injuries Rolling Eyes

Not sure about Anya but loaning our best striker to our championship rivals is madness. I just hope that we quickly find a new way to play with the players that are left

Been saying since the Karlsuhe game that Martin would be gone. His skill set doesn't match NPs requirements. It's as logical as it is upsetting.

I take your point but Martin in any combination hasn't been working for a long time, if he was sulking around causing internal strife, maybe he was a weed that needed digging out.

Cant tell you why but I'm feeling sort of positive.

Getting shut of Martin is a massive positive for me. Just looking at him slothing around sulking and mardying was draining my spirits let alone those trying to play alongside him. I think losing his bad attitude will lift the rest of the team.

Not saying I'm happy as I think we need a better back 4 not just a tweak but all 4 but I do reckon the front 6 (irrespective of who and formation) will now have a bit of a chance to perform without Martin dragging them down.

I have a feeling all of Martin's "attitude problem" stems from his personal problems which began nearly a year ago. That kind of upheaval is bound to be a distraction. A change of scenery will do him a favour, probably too many memories around the place for him to shake it from his mind and knuckle down to playing for us. I wish him well, been a fantastic player for us, my only wish was that we appointed someone better than Clement last summer, then who knows what we might all be talking about now!

I'm sorry but I simply didn't see any difference in his body language last season or this to the season when he scored 25 goals. Its just the way he is.

We've done his merits or otherwise to death, so I don't want to start that up again.

I think we all wish him well as he has been a brilliant signing for us.

    Haven't we just!

Diego Poyet, a defensive midfielder who played under Chris Powell, was released by West Ham
after loan spells at Huddersfield, MK Dons and Charlton, all of them when they were in the
Championship. He's at our favourite price - free - which may mean we've little or no money for
    transfers unless we sell first.

Or is it that he's out of contract thus available now.

Not satisfied with predicting a Trump victory, could this be a Purple double prediction. Could be a shrewd move. Like Trump would be divisive.

I hope not. Our very own mardy bunch have only just recovered from Pearson
and Barton really is a nasty piece of work and a load of trouble if his arrest record
and the lighted cigarette stubbed in a young player's eye are anything to go by.

Update on Diego Poyet from Titter -
"Derby are a great football club but despite reports on here I would like to
confirm I'm not currently training with the team."
The source of the original rumour was The Sun - make of that what you will.

While I agree Rob, at the moment we can only sign free agents. I think Barton would make a difference.

He'd certainly make a difference, Purps. Not sure whether it would be good or bad, but he seems to have had a blameless (and successful) season at Burnley last year.

Working in Bury for a while now, I've had chats with numerous Burnley STH's - and surprisingly most of them only have four fingers and a thumb on each hand, but i digress - their view is that Dyche was clearly the man in charge and Barton was made to understand that from day one. Not a peep out of him, and never sent off in a claret shirt either, so I'm told.

Ironically, Pearson may have controlled him here. I don't think our Ginger version would have anywhere near as much clout as Burnley's manager, so for that reason I'm not in favour.

An old rumour has cropped up again -

Grant Hanley (25) CB and captain of Newcastle

The idea is that he won't get much game time if/when Newcastle
are promoted - but wouldn't he get Premiership wages whether he
plays or not? Anyway it's a position we need to look at.
