    Ali dies.........

Post by rjrules71 on Sat 04 Jun 2016, 8:27 am

    RIP Ali

Passed today, fine boxer still watch some of his fights on video

    Put boxing on the map

Met him once at a book signing in Snottingham, was almost a cabbage by then with bloody Parkinsons but the aura of a great man was unmistakeable.

Both in the ring and for so many causes. A massive part of America's reluctant Social Revolution. That is why he was such a BIG man and will be remembered with wide spread respect. Another era has closed but his work goes on.

I did a little amateur boxing (not successfully) and in the world cup year (1966) I was lucky enough to go to London and see Cassius Clay (newly name changed to Muhammad Ali) do an exhibition training session at the Thomas A Beckett gym in the Old Kent Road in preparation for his 2nd bout with 'Our 'Enry. His fist and feet were just a blur of speed for such a big man which left me in awe.

    Rest in Peace big man.
