How I wish we'd've signed Murray from Palace at the start of the season instead of him going to Brighton, one of our biggest rivals if we're thinking about promotion! He's definitely the type of CF we need.
Such as Rhodes is not an option for us if we continue with our system and I certainly wouldn't change it to accommodate him or the same sort of player! I do think Vydra could go on a run once he scores and given a decent crack in the team but a Murray type would certainly help.

When (if) Thorne gets fit Johnson can do the MF bully boy role but unsure at right back as Baird appears to still like the occasional injury holiday and a fit Christie sometimes has poor form so that position looks a little shaky. Strengthening there would not go amiss. A fitter and more mobile Martin type player (if there is such a thing!) would knit the front line together.

Catch your drift Roy, however, by "Rhodes type" I meant a #9 who scores regularly at this level ........ I should have added more detail

Personally, if everyone is back and fit,...and coldplay is back, we dont need anyone.
If not, couple of prem league loans wouldnt go amiss.... especially if one who scores goals appears....btw Rhodes and Nugent dont get a game at 'boro and no idea what happened to Bamford?
Crouch would be a good short term...

Coldplay won't be back in Jan, if at all. For him to return it would take both clubs and the player agreeing. Fulham appear to be happy with him.

Bamford? He is failing to get starts at Burnley. Permanent bench warmer.

Think it would be good if the club come out and give a difinitive answer on the Chris Martin situation.
No-one seems to know if we can get him back in January, get him back at the end of the season or if he has gone forever?
I'm sure Steve McClaren would like him back as soon as....as would i.
Just a note though...Coldplay is 'Mr January' on the official Fulham 2017 calender... Rage

Nobody is a bigger Chris Martin supporter than me but I really don't think that we should bring him back even if we could.

We have to move on and begin searching for a mobile, athletic target man that may be able to make the step up to the premiership if we get there.

Val, He is on a season long loan. There is a sort of recall clause BUT that would require Fulham, Derby AND Martin to agree that he comes back. Fulham won't want to lose him so he won't be coming back in January.

End of the season, Fulham have the option to buy him for £6.5M to add to the £2.5M loan fee they have already paid.

The chances of seeing the lad back in a Rams shirt are minimal.

Haller is productive in the Dutch Eredivisie, however, I see the lad regularly and he would struggle to get 10 a season in the SBC.

Just as when I was asked by DCFC about Danny Koevermans from PSV back in 08/09. Not the type of player who would perform against English defences.

In 12/13, Frank Dumouge, a Dutch striker was at Bournemouth in L1. He only played twice, didn't score and a serious ligament injury in pre season led to him debuting late, when he did get a game he suffered a broken nose and concussion. That was followed by a calf injury that put paid to his season. Although he didn't play much he saw all of their games that season. His verdict was that the average L1 defence is harder to play against than most Dutch Eredivisie defences.

Don't get too swayed by performances of strikers in Holland. They are often very misleading. In my memory I remember 4 doing well in England. Hasselbaink, van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp and van Persie. Then you have the likes of Veldwijk who couldn't even break into the Red Dog side after scoring 30 odd the season before in the Dutch 2nd tier.

please don't sign anyone from the dutch league - that shite we got from spurts (have erased him from my memory) as part of the huddlestone "deal" went on to score shed loads there - I reckon I could get into double figures and I am a fat, nearly 50 years old ex left back!

Look in the eastern European leagues - Albania seem to be doing alright, what about Bulgaria and Romania - we should be able to pick up some talented bargains

stop looking in bloody jock land as well - their league is so shite the manager of one of the top 4 teams leaves to go to Franchise FC in the 3rd tier of English football!

This is his 2nd season. Injury troubles. Only played 6 of the 17 League games so far and was subbed 2 games ago against Ajax with a hamstring injury. Also only played in 1 of the 6 CL games.

Could we afford him? As far as wages are concerned, his current 4 year contract is for a total of €5M which is roughly €25K a week. That isn't out of our League.

Transfer fee? On the continent, part of the fee is buying out the existing contract which is about €3M. Add the purchase part of the fee and you are probably looking at about €6M I would estimate.

However, with his injury record this season, he is not a player I would be looking at.

Crystal ball is still a little cloudy but here is my prediction for the upcoming window:

Martin to Fulham for the final £6 million.
    Russell to Brighton for £???
Unknown to me as yet out for £4.25 million

ASSOMBALONGA to Rams for £13 million - He is fit but will not be played for fear of any injury before transfer but he wants to play vs Newcastle to prove himself.

Yanic Wildshut from Wigan maybe as well or on standby.

Since 2010 Wildshutt has played 187 games and scored only 23 goals...1 in 8...not really a striker that gets your pulse racing!
