    Stats mean nothing

Reading comments on the Jobs for the boys thread got me thinking about stats (Leon Best scored goals everywhere else) and also playing in a foreign country (Albentosa) when a player can fail to settle
Stats can be deceptive and can also be twisted

Would anyone be happy if we signed a striker who had the following stats

    Season 1 - Played 29 - Goals 7
    Season 2 - Played 42 - Goals 3
    Season 3 - Played 10 - Goals 0

I guess not and many would say he was a failure, which in those seasons he was.

The striker in question is Ian Rush
    Season 1 - Juventus - didn't settle abroad
Season 2 - Leeds - towards end of career
    Season 3 - Newcastle - as Leeds

As I said stats can be deceptive and twisted
