Speed of thought and finishing ability would be my 2 attributes to look for, given the current squad.

Derby County are close to the signing of Ross McCormack from Villa. McClaren is a long term admirer of McCormack. #dcfc #dcfcfans #avfc

Nigel was a long term admirer of Conor Sammon too!

McClaren has said it's going to be hard to improve this squad in the January transfer window as there aren't that many players around or something like that!

    http://m.derbytelegraph.co.uk/it-will-be-difficult-to-improve-derby-county-squad-before-transfer-deadline-admits-steve-mcclaren/story-30071727-detail/story.html

Maybe he should get his head out of Chris Martin's arse or employ a real scouting team!

McCormack cost Villa £12m+ from Fulham in August - do we have that much (within FFP)?

As Villa's attempt to sign Jordan Rhodes looks less likely, they may decide to keep McCormack.
Also Fulham were rumoured to be interested in re-signing McCormack.

Any chance of us threatening to drive the price up/beat Fulham in a bidding war unless they return CM?

    Chris Martin return?

    Anything is possible but -

Derby County boss Steve McClaren says he still wants Chris Martin back from his
loan at Fulham this month - but the chances of that happening appear to be slim.
Martin is on a season-long deal with the Rams' Sky Bet Championship rivals.

But Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic believes there is no chance of on-loan
striker Chris Martin returning to Derby County this month

DCFC getting closer to an agreement with #CPFC for Bakary Sako. Great addition for any Championship side, direct and powerful runner.

Derby believe they can get the deal done with Palace signing Jeff Schlupp game time will be limited. #CPFC #DCFC

I read somewhere that Birmingham had bid £4m for Sako. How much have we bid (if anything) ?

Rumour is that Birmingham have offered a higher transfer fee but we've offered higher wages. Don't know if it's true though.

This is in the Sun, so it's more than likely to be a load of rubbish and it will be his third club this season if he moves. He can sign for 3 but only play for 2, is that right?

This is in the Sun, so it's more than likely to be a load of rubbish and it will be his third club this season if he moves. He can sign for 3 but only play for 2, is that right?

The Football League used to get around that rule with emergency loans by somehow disregarding appearances made during short term loans. That was one of the reasons that FIFA insisted that emergency loans ended.

Now, ordinarily, a player can only play for two senior sides during any one season. There's a bit of wiggle room if he moved to a country which used a different footballing calendar - USA, African nations, Australia? As it can be said that a players 'early season' appearances were during 'last season' and his future appearances would be in 'this season'.

FIFA can also grant special dispensation for a player to appear for a third club, but that's supposed to be for things like clubs going into liquidation mid-season or a player's life being at risk if he stayed with his current team.

I can't see any way that Anya could move within Europe during this window.
