A talking point prior to the Reading game was the absence of Chris Martin in the matchday squad, and
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic gave the following statement with regards to the Derby County loanee:

“He made himself unavailable for today’s game.

“He stopped in training, but I have information from medical staff that he is available to play.
He decided to take a day off.

“We need to check this situation but I don’t have any intention of making our rivals any stronger. I am
not going to send him back to Derby, he is going to stay with us, and he is going to respect the contract.

“We are not a train station, you can’t come in and out when you want. We need to respect ourselves, and
I don’t know if he’s going to play for Fulham, but he’s not going to play for Derby.

"We are London's oldest Club. We need to be treated with respect."

If we along with Martin shaft Fulham, what effect is it going to have in the future when doing deals !

He also said, the Fulham board need to either back their coach or back Derby County and Chris Martin.
Sounds like an ultimatum to me...especially as it is a well known fact that Malaga want him as their coach!

It is a very strange/stupid loan deal to me...in the past whenever we have loaned players...it is the parent club who dictate the terms....and can recall the players...a la Ibe!  Only DCFC could do a loan ...where we have no control....and....loan out our best player to a rival team...who then can dictate if he stays with them or not!

We've certainly got form when it comes to getting on the wrong end of loan deals.

In January 2008 we took Danny Mills on a three month loan from Man City, only for him to get injured in his second game and never play for us again. If I remember correctly City made us pay up for the full loan.

Sounds like Fulham have said he stays for the season, as is their right under the terms of the loan deal. Come the summer the sale deal will only go through if all 3 parties agree and, by the sound of it, Martin won't.

What is the sense on carrying in paying his wages? Surely best to cut their losses and let him come back to us. At least all involved can move on to new things. Maybe just maybe Jocanovic is just positioning himself for an easier exit to Spain!

I can't help thinking that Jokanovic is spot on. In all truth modern football dictates that the player ultimately gets what he wants but I don't think we're covering ourselves in any glory on this issues.

As much as I am a huge admirer of the way Martin plays, I have nagging doubts that his return would unbalance the team ethic in the same way that Rodney Marsh seemed to ruin Man Citeh's title charge (to our advantage).

If Bryson is off on loan to Burton - which I think is ludicrous by the way - then all the more reason for our number 9 not to return.

Perhaps if we hadn't been on such a good run, he would have been more useful, or the idea have gained more support on here. Then again, there is also the theory that he wouldn't have wanted to come.

My gut doesn't support the "bad apple" theory, but I have no firm information either way on which to base it. All I can say is that 7 n 15 league starts continues his proven record at this level. He is a top class championship goalscorer.

In my heart, I would love to see him back. My head is not so sure.

Started with a few blanks at Fulham. Now 7 in the last 11. Yer man has found the groove again.

As for whatever is, or isn't, happening at Fulham. We still don't know the background, nor do we know exactly what was said by whom, to whom and why. Folk on antisocial media slating Coldplay, and for what? They don't really know. All they think they know is some half hearted stuff said, allegedly, by the Fulham boss.... who has issues of his own and this might take the heat off him. Again, just guessing. This tinterweb thingy has a lot of advantages but it gives too many people the chance to be smart fishcakes about stuff they little about.

IMO we have probably evolved beyond Coldplay and are now getting the idea of a more mobile CF running into the channels off pat and will continue to improve. However, how you improve much on 9 wins and 2 draws from the last 12 games is a conundrum (12 wins would be an answer but in the SBC that doesn't seem to happen). Keep that form up and we have mid 90s points come May.

The roller coaster just keeps on keepin' on

£2.5m is a bit of a p*ss take in my opinion, even if he is out of contract in the summer.

I just can't see this happening, for so many reasons, and personally I hope it doesn't.

It's being reported that he's very keen on the move and that there's a delay with the takeover. Whether it's true or not I don't know.

Proven to be a diving fishcake, not that impressive a footballer and possibly not what we need.

If DCFC do buy him, I will back the lad but, as the Dutch would say.... als een boer met kiespijn.

Watford, Newcastle and Birmingham are also reported to be interested
in Lansbury but that's likely his agent drumming up trade and bigger bids.

Btw the trees' transfer embargo may not last long. They're saying that
the accounts are in order but not submitted on time because the finance
director left the club. Add to that the continuing delay over the takeover
and you'd wonder what to believe is going on.
