    6 Years On

Post by Barnstaple Ram on Fri 16 Dec 2016, 12:43 pm

6 Years ago today I said goodbye to my best friend and brother in law Darren (Uncleram to many on here)

During a moment of quiet reflection today I was thinking about what he had missed at the Rams

The 5 - 0 against the scum (and booing of dwarfy all match)
The play off defeat to QPR (the air would have been blue in the car home)
Pearsons reign (he wasn't a fan)
    2 - 1 - 10 men (Thankfully he missed the 5-2 by a couple of weeks)
Last Sunday (he would have been smiling down on us)

The club is certainly in a better position than we were on that day

2 days after he died we lost at home to Reading with a team of
    Bywater
    Brayford
    Barker
    Leacock
    Moxey
    Green
    Pearson
    Cwyka
    Bueno
    Commons
    Moore

    Subs Used
    Savage
    Bailey
    Porter

How many of that team would you pick in our current side, not many I would imagine.

Few of them would even qualify as fringe players.

Squad players as backup - maybe Barker and Brayford if they were in form and fully fit.

I'd take Brayford, he was great when he was here. Barker in his day was possibly the best defender in the league.

Cywka, Bueno could both play wide left role ahead of either Russell or Weimann...imo.
Brayford ahead of Christie...and Barker for Pearce maybe?

Of that team only Barker and Brayford would be likely to get near a first team place.

Sorry about your brother-in-law by the way. I used to go to home games as much to meet up with my brother and my dad as to watch the game. When they both died within a year of each other it was a long time before I could go to games again.

I'd take a healthy Shaun Barker and Chris Commons.

Brayford, Barker and Commons would probably get in but none of the others
