Just shows they really are stupid, surely they know Clough inherited Gary Rowetts team to see Burton promoted.
Then Rowett went on to Brum and was sack by a bunch of foreign idiots while Brum were 6th(or there abouts).
Burton are now in the bottom three under Cloughs guidance.
    Rowett is available.
    But they want Clough.
    Bloody weird I recon!

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink inherited Rowett's team - they were running away with League One when he left for QPR.

Under Clough, their results were worse (averaging 1.64 points per game against 2.10 under JFH) but they still got promoted.

The trees are desperate to find any manager to take the job and pacify their fans, so they'll try former players in the hope that sentiment or loyalty will triumph over commonsense. It will be interesting to see whether Clough is that daft. Maybe Stuart Pearce will be next.

Would all end in tears for them and laughter from us.
If Nigel has any sense he won't go near it..but I suspect he will:

Couldn't agree more, he shouldn't even consider it with Fawaz in charge. He is the wrong man at the wrong time for them and it's unlikely that he'd get another go at Burton if he jumped ship again.

I think he'll get his opportunity at Forest eventually but this is definitely not it.

Sounds like a prison sentence. It would probably seem like one as well.

Forget Clough, Stuart Pearce is obviously the man for the job.  LOL roll

They are in an even bigger mess that we were when he came in here.

It took him 3-4 years to make us into a decent team, get rid of the expensive dead wood, and provide SM with a gift that he was happy to accept.

I hope for his sake that he has the sense to wait until Fawaz has gone, and new owners give him the time to be successful there. Many on here believe that he is a top half championship manager and no more, and the evidence suggests that, but at the moment that is considerable success for Forest.

I've no idea how far he can take them, but he can certainly get rid of their rotten core, just like he did here. Worst case scenario is that he sorts them out over say 3 years and they get a really top class manager to replace him. Unfortunately, we chose SM ! ...but at the time, I suppose beggars couldn't be choosers.

Those who scoff at his comparative league record when taking over a virtually promoted Burton side forget that he came to us from them when they were pretty much clear and heading for promotion to the league under him. They also forget that the record of SM and NC in the playoff final defeat season with their respective new clubs is almost identical. I believe from memory that NC and SM both won 22 and drew 8 of their games in charge of DCFC and SUFC that season. We were 9th-ish after the Forest defeat - I think Sheff Utd were either in or very close to the League One relegation zone.

I don't want him to go there. He will improve them.

If it was a straight choice between Rowett and Clough though, I think I'd rather let them have Nigel.

Best scenario for me would be Clough going to Forest, taking them
down and Rowett going to Burton and keeping them up.  Better still would be Clough going to Forest and taking them down and A N Other going to Burton and taking them down too.

This is another example of Fawaz showing he has absolutely no clue how to run a football club and deciding to appease the fans by appointing a fans' favourite. He tried it with Pearce - it failed, he tried it with getting Billy Davies back - it failed, now he wants to get Clough back to the club - it will also fail.
Fawaz is just trying to take the heat off from the fans be appointing a former hero.
We know Clough can operate with little money but I think he will struggle there.
I would have actually thought he would show Burton some loyalty and stay there, afterall he has left them before when he came to us.

I'm not quite sure what "enough" might mean in that context, but I have a good idea.

Let's put this in the real world. You manage Kwiksave, and you get a chance to manage Asda.  You've never worked for them before, but your dad used to run the place, and he regularly put you in his trolley as a seven year old when he did the weekly shop.  You remember it fondly.  In 2009 you get the chance to emulate your Dad at his Asda store, for more money and a chance to rekindle emotional childhood ties.  You take it, quite rightly.

Eight years later, back at Kwiksave and again punching above your weight, you get a chance at the Tesco job  just down the road. Coincidentally, your dad also managed that store, and you worked under him as a 20 something, having great success on the shop floor, even winning annual recognition at the international Tesco awards,  representing Tesco UK abroad and at home.

You now get the chance to manage the store whee you succeeded previously, under your Dad.

...and you wouldn't even talk to them?
