Maybe he feels he doesn't need the hassle of being manager of the red dogs after being the Rams boss. Both sets of fans would have reasons to give him grief, and it sounds like a bad place to be.

There's also the pitfall of the ex-player returning as boss.

There's also the matter of where he's lived for the majority of his life! I don't think he would dream of changing that and he still retains a certain amount of respect among our more reasonable supporters, that would change dramatically if he crossed the divide and even though he may like to give the impression he's as thick skinned as his Dad we all know different and I'm sure he wouldn't put his family through the abuse and disrespect they're forced to get should he go there.

Said he wouldn't go. The treatment OBE got from them in the run up to his retirement and afterwards has the entire Clough family very anti Tree Huggers.

Since our sacking of Nigel we aren't that high on his Xmas card list any more.

The only reason he hasn't gone is because he failed to get it all his own way with Fawaz, nothing to do with his family or anything that happened in the past.

You say that as if it should be any other way Chicken. He went and spoke to Forest and made the decision that he would be better staying at Burton. Seems pretty straight forward and very sensible to me and not quite sure why anybody would criticise him for anything he did in this process.

I'm responding to others in the thread that seem to think it was because of his family and the past actually.

However, I'd say he's not particularly loyal to the Burton Chairman is he?

Actually, who gives a shit about Nigel Clough? Not me, that's for sure.
