    'kin zonal marking

Post by MadAmster on Sun 05 Feb 2017, 3:08 pm

Just seen Feijenoord go a goal up with 15 minutes to go away to Twente. They attacked down the left and Elia put a cross in, parallel with the goal line and about 8 yards out. Twente had 7 men in their own box, all marking space, the ball missed all the space and Bottechin put it away unchallenged, centrally, and from about 8 yards out. 3 other Feijenoord players were within 10 yard of the goal and also totally unmarked. Lunacy IMO.

I have never seen space score a goal - beats me why people persist with it - mark players - they score against you

Reminds me of that practice game when our strikers had to dribble round dustbins and then score.

    The dustbins won 1-0.

    I remember that game BR.

Keogh mis-kicked straight to a dustbin. Fortunately, it rebounded off the dustbin and went just wide.

    If only....
