    Goal line technology

Post by chicken on Thu 16 Feb 2017, 6:32 pm

The English Football League has announced goal-line technology is to be introduced to the Championship from the 2017/18 season.

    Not before time either imo.

What impresses me is that technology in the Premiership has:

A - Correctly assisted the referee.
B - Taken an important decision away from the 'eagle-eyed' (or not) line assistants.
C - Removed argument by the players with the referee on this matter.

A welcome addition to the league we will be competing in for the next few seasons.

Ajax would have liked it last at Legia Warsaw. The ball crossed the line in the 8th minute. Goal to Ajax? No. None of the officials, ref, assistant and the "extra" man on the goal line, had seen all of the ball over the line. Video showed that it most definitely should have been given. Result was 0-0. A 1-1 draw next week will see Legia through. Unfair.

Just seen an interview with Klaassen, the player who headed the ball over the line.... he referred to the official on the goal line as "the man with the stick" LOL

It's a no-brainer to install it, but a relatively minor issue, and I hope it doesn't lead to more replays for other issues.
