Leicester City Premier League Champions have fired their manager.
FFS it's Leicester City he had earned at least two relegations before they even began to discuss firing him.
I have no love of football anymore..the pressures built up by the financial carrots have just strangled any magic and mystic right out of the game.
It's all so nasty and grubby.

No loyalty in football eh? I could perhaps understand if they were several points adrift at the foot of the table but they have a reasonable chance of staying up, even though they aren't playing well. He should have been given the chance to keep them up then rectify his mistakes next season imo.

Player power apparently, much like our useless bunch who for some strange reason 'couldn't' play 4-4-2 and couldn't stomach intense training sessions under Pearson. Stinks.

There has already been rumours of player power playing a considerable part in Ranieri's departure but I suppose it's easy for those of us looking from the outside to look for the easy to blame excuse. I have a different view.

We know the Foxes have struggled this year but after the perfect season they had only one way to go. That is understandable. But what is not understandable is that the manager has a new contract coming up and it would be easier (and prudential) for the owners to get rid now than have to negotiate a hefty increase for successful services rendered.

There will cheaper options available for the manager's position and that together with their lowly position has now persuaded owners with very limited knowledge (or none at all) of the game in this country to protect what they hold most dear...... Their back pockets.

P.S. This is entirely my own view and is not the opinion of the COYR's forum.
    (I enjoyed that bit.)

Thing is regardless of what the ownership did.
I have seen Fester games this season and heard boos from the fans.
FFS get real...your Leicester City months removed from a season you could not envisage in your wildest most drug induced dreams.
It didn't help their cause that yet again money talked and they lost possibly the best most effective footballer in the English game to Chelsea.
Or they would probably be comfortable mid table and happy having a second leg at home in the last 16 of the champions league only down by one.
But boos..really..your Fester you have been shit most of your football life..wtf were you booing about.

Ranieri was very lucky to inherit a good team and this man was the heart of the team, dopey effing owners sell their best player then sack the manager as if it was his fault. Frustrated

Every player in the Leicester squad over achieved last season, and they had every single slice of luck going, but these things don't last forever. They have a squad of lower Premiersh*t/upper championship players who 'rode the wave' last season so it should be no surprise to anybody (and probably wasn't to Ranieri) that they are where they are now.

On the plus side Ranieri can now look back on an impossible league title and wave that in the faces of prospective emplyers rather than a relegation followed by a year in the Championship.

I bet there'll be a few owners looking at what Fester have just done and wondering if they should follow suit. If the manager of the English champions can get the bullet nine months later is anyone safe ?

Looks like the East Midlands is becoming a bit of a dangerous place to be a football manager.

It'll be so funny if they come in for McClaren - not they are likely to, but stranger things have happened.

I wonder what Judas's reaction would be?

a - I have come to realise that Derby County is my true home, I regret leaving the club before and I'll remain as long as the owner wants me here.

b - I'll just hire a helicopter so I can get to the Crisp Bowl a few minutes quicker. After all, why would a man of my great talent and intellect wish to hang around a little club like Derby County?

Our players like Mac because he massages their egos & allows them to stay in their comfort zone, similar to how the Arsenal players appear to be under Wenger. Not challenged enough to up their game when it matters.

The club needed a "Pearson" type manager to ruffle a few feathers but he probably tried to change things too quickly and his abrasive approach put a few noses out of joint. The Fester players liked him though and apparently some want him back.

As for Clement it appears this squad had no respect for his training methods, giving him the derogatory nickname BBC (bibs, balls & cones). Having worked with some of the World's best players & gaining a good reputation as a coach I think the attitude of our players towards him says a lot more about their heightened sense of stature than his ability as a coach.

Wouldn't surprise me if Pearson went back on a short term contract with the brief to save them from relegation.

The players liked his methods and he left because of problems with his son, not because he was doing a bad job.

..... on a different note..... let me take you back to 1975. Some small team in the East Midlands won the top flight in English football. Less than 18 months later, manager Dave Mackay was sacked when the board failed to give him a vote of confidence........

Actually, we sort of did it twice. Clough and Taylor only lasted about 18 months after winning the First Division title. OK, it was their decision to resign but they'd offered to do that before and the Board had always refused to accept.

In October 1973 Longson wanted them out and was delighted to accept their resignations. Probably the worst decision in DCFC history.
