    Player suggestion thread

Post by RRC on Tue 07 Mar 2017, 1:53 pm

Who should the Rams sign in Summer 2017?

Which players have caught your eye?

Please post your ideas in this thread (rather than starting a new thread).

The big picture has to be one of two footed footballers who are agile, speedy, prepared to defend as well as attack, happy to get stuck in, have stamina and a huge slice of givafuquedness. Produce a clone of Will's technique, Camara's speed, GTs hard edge and vision and Buckenbauer's level of givafuqedness and you would have one hell of a player....... who isn't likely to come and play for us anyway.

I haven't seen enough of other teams' players this season to come up with names but I'm quite sure you can all educate me.

Of what we have, I am glad we look like having Fozzy back next season. GT? Love to see him give us 30 odd games next season but that is more prayer than anything concrete. Such a very good player. Let's hope he has had some reinforced glass fitted...... I am salivating just thiinking about the lad's quality when fit. Coldplay? Who can say? If he takes Fulham up would he want to return? He appears to want to but would a chance of EPL get him to stay? Basically he would like to come back to SM. SM wants him as well........ If he comes back he needs to learn to stay on his feet more.

Incoming? I'd like to see names put forward for a mid 20s right back. A mid 20s CH (or will Rawson step up?), Hanson as cover for a fit GT (hope), Hughes with Butterfield for cover at the front of a diamond in MF, I'd like to try Max Lowe on the left hand side of MF, new RM. Vydra and Nugent as a front 2 in a 1-4-4-2?

However, we are likely to get Carson; Christie, Keogh, Rawson, Forsyth; Hughes GT BJ; Ince Martin Russell

Oh David Nugent, Oh David Nugent, we found him in Preston, we found him in Preston, we found him in Preston at the side of the road in a Volkswagen beetle............

I'm not saying we'd be able to afford either, but Jordon Ibe and Chris Wood.

Christophe Berra, 32, Ipswich and Scotland CB, is very reliable and seems
to keep very fit, playing 40+ games every season.

He shouldn't cost a fortune - could even be out of contract soon - and
could be a replacement for Shackell.

Dale Stephens - central midfielder at Brighton. I believe he is out of contract in the summer.

Excellent suggestion, but I think we'd face very stiff competition for him.

Back to 4-3-3? And you've put Johnson in the starting line-up and on the bench.

I wouldn't give McLaren a penny, just let him bring in loans and if we're outside the top six come Christmas get him out and give the new manager money to spend in January.

Perhaps he's going to play or bench our erstwhile official ambassador, Michael Johnson, as well as our pony-tailed midfielder?

Actually, I'm with you first time round Val - Michael Johnson replacing Keogh !

In all seriousness, I'd include Pearce and look at either 4231 or preferably 4141 if Martin is going to be the fulcrum. Thorne is wasted wide, no matter how good he is.  Johnson as the other holder but alongside Thorne he can have licence.

I'd also play Vydra centrally in a 4231, based on current (next season's) personnel.

Hacks me off this talk of martin returning will save us, it hasn't worked for the last 3 years, Pearson saw it and if different circumstances, he may well of solved it
Thorne will return then more than likely get injured so again that saviour won't turn out how we want, fozzy will take a while to recover
Can't see mclaren solving it so again another rebuild, it's Mel I feel for

He was supposed to be back for pre-season this season. That means that he's at least nine months behind schedule. They mentioned at the time that it was a fairly straightforward injury. The problem was that he got an infection in the fracture - and those are hard to eradicate. I wouldn't put money on Thorne playing again.

You have that spot on. I can't quite believe the number of people on that other form you frequent who are building their future team around him. I also hope, with some uncertainty, that McClaren isn't one of them. I also worry about the prospect of Forsyth returning as half the player. 2 serious injuries in such quick succession don't bode well, which is a shame because I think he has been missed.

    Player Suggestions for next season

Post by valakari on Sun 23 Apr 2017, 11:04 am

Obviously we have to move some players out..but who should we buy/loan in?
My initial wish list...for what its worth:
Andre Wisdom -currently on loan at Salzberg Red Bull in Austria
Grant Hanley - currently warming Newcastle's bench
Grant Leadbitter - mostly not selected by Middlesboro
Sergi Canos - ripped Baird to pieces for Brentford
Stewart Downing - just got back into Middlesboro's team
Jordan Ibe - currently warming Bournemouth's bench

Not Downing. He is pants, he is inconsistent, he is not good enough.

I would add that Abraham lad from Chelsea who is on loan to Brizzle.
