    FFP nerds. Help please

Post by Loughborough Ram on Sun 12 Mar 2017, 3:45 pm

Does money paid to managers who have been sacked count against FFP?

If so can we afford to sack yet another one.

I don't know, I think that offer expired but I think we may have a 50% off voucher

Yes it does, but it's likely that Mel will just put him on gardening leave until the summer. That way it'll just mean that we keep having to pay him, rather than suffer a big FFP hit.

I bet he's sh*t at gardening as well. He put his roses in the middle of his lawn, brought loads of turf that he's never laid, and bought some pea gravel when he actually needed shale

We were already paying him apparently which was part of the reason he came back. We have him until the end of next season!

don't know about FFP but if we have paid him all he is due in one go you cant spread it out accounting prudence rules - that is why some managers, and players are paid over the rest of their contract and it is regarded as a liability on your balance sheet which hits the P&L every month...

The first time he came he was only paid up until the end of that season due to him being speaking to Newcastle, football contracts run up until the 30th June, I believe Clement would also likely have been paid just for the season he worked. With alleged misconduct it is quite probable Pearson got a shortened end deal and I doubt MacLaren this time would be entitled to anything long term, bearing in mind what happened last time and there wasn't exactly a queue for his services.

It is the player wages that are the major hit, quite probably now more than the entire turnover of the club.

don't forget the transfer fee amortisation

upwards of £20m over 4 years is a £5m hit before you start.....

But don't forget it works the other way round, sell somebody for £5m and FFP can allow you to spend £20m over 4 years.

    Hendrick was sold for £10m........
Martin's price to Fulham before his sulk was £9m........
Will Hughes has been touted at £15m......

Don't forget the above players cost zero to us in transfer fees so the money is there for reasonable incomings if we only sold one of the two available.
