Pick a formation and team to keep

Post by RRC on Thu Mar 16, 2017 2:54 pm

In another thread, we're naming the players we think should go.

Now try to name a formation, team and 5 subs to stay and - only 5 subs
because there will probably be about 16 players left after the cull.

You can assume that the injured players and loanees will be available.

    Here's my 4-4-2

    Carson
    Christie Keogh Pearce Forsyth
    Ince Hughes Thorne Anya
    Nugent Martin

5 subs - Mitchell, Rawson, Guy, Butterfield, Vernam

A chance for something totally different, 3-4-2-1 start then can change to virtually any other formation as needed.

    Carson

    Keogh Pearce Forsyth

    Anya Thorne Butterfield Ince

    Hughes Vydra

    Nugent

Subs: Mitchell, Christie, Rawson, Vernam and Martin

I like three at the back and with a good pre season to practice it it could be our best formation. I'd go for

    Carson

    Pearce keogh forsyth

    Thorne johnson

    Russell Hughes Anya

    Nugent Vydra

Subs. Mitchell, Christie, Bryson, Martin, Ince

I think that playing in the middle of a back three would really suit him

I think we would get relegated playing that side. Russell and Anya ahead of Ince Rolling Eyes

and here shows the problem for this season....Wisdom Hanley and Downing are needed, and Forsyth, Thorne and Martin havent been available!

I think we need to find more up and coming players, players who are hungry and can improve both performance and contract wise. Wisdom has done nothing since he left we need better than him, Hanley is more of the same as what we have. I think Gary will go less for the pure stopper centre-backs and go for players more in his own style, better on the ball and can help the midfield more.

That would give options like playing 3 at the back, which wouldn't suit the players we have. Certainly Thorne and Martin will help, Forsyth even pre injury could easily be improved at left back, we need more pace and youth both in midfield and up front.

Keogh is a more than decent, experienced championship player but not a leader on the field. That is something Gary will need to sort out, maybe it isn't prudent to do it this season but certainly next.

In home games maybe but he is one of quite a few we have who are less good away from home. Ince is the best player this season, Baird the most consistent.
