    Financial accounts

Post by Loughborough Ram on Sun Apr 02, 2017 11:31 pm

I can't pretend to be any kind of expert on finances so I assume these are factual. The club has announced a £9m loss which is well within the £13m allowable under ffp. This compares with a £5.6m loss in the previous year when the allowable limit was £6m.

So on the face of it the club is in better shape than some would have us believe.

This is the figure predicted just under a year ago by Sam Rush at a fans forum. They clearly know what they are doing on FFP.
However this will be a more difficult task in the next season when trying to sell off certain players!

The loss was £14.7m, but only counts as £9m for FFP. All the investment in the stadium, academy and training ground is exempt from FFP.

The results are fine as long as Mel is happy to throw £15m into the pot. - I suspect that the loss will be a bit lower this season as lots of the money spent was on projects that needed building then, but once built, only need maintaining.

The eye-watering thing is £32m on wages. That points to players like Bent being on at least £40k per week.

football is a strange business - DCFC are only viable as long as a sugar daddy is prepared to bankroll the losses - there is only the hope of promotion to the premiershite - which is getting more and more difficult each year due to the massive parachute payments - to give any hope of the rams being a viable going concern in the real world.

I hope we don't suffer when our sugar daddy gets fed up/dies

They are making all the right noises but one sentence confuses me......

"I am pleased to be able to report another strong year for the club across all sectors of our operations."

£14.7M pounds loss. 9 million of that relevant for FFP. Even that lower figure is is several times more than I will have earned in my entire life and I have had some very well paid jobs down the years (some reasonably paid ones as well). For the "average working man" it's probably about 10 times his life's earnings.

Strong across all sectors? Hardly. Not as bad as some may have suggested.
