Leading scorer last season and either scored the winner or equalizer in games that won us sufficient points to ensure a top half finish. Although there are some on here who would prefer to go back to the bottom half dreary days

Bollocks again...are we really going to give away our 2 creative players...if he does, i hope he knows what he is doing because i can see us ending up as a hardworking talentless team who come 7th and everyone says what a good job he has done....that is not the Derby way!

The only thing I would say is that flare teams rarely win this league. Those that go up more often than not are the hardworkers. Even Newcastle had to grind it on the regular.

I understand where you're coming from Rob, I really do, but IMHO, unless an exceptional talent (like Pele or Ronaldo), selfishness and lack of team ethic causes more damage to team prospects than the brilliance shown by Ince, ableit in patches.

I'd also venture to suggest that the arrival of Bent and Ince under SM that first January sent out completely the wrong signals - two players who, as far as I'm concerned, have always "only been in it for themselves". There were games like Rotherham (A) where both Ince and Bent scored to get us back to 3-3, but their involvement simply papered over the cracks of the fact that there were 11 individuals out there that day, not a team.

Ince has been very good last season in spells. He has done this on occasions for other sides. ....but not SUCCESSFUL sides in general. It has hapened too often for this to be a coincidence.

I don't want a team full of grafters and no flair, but I DO want a TEAM.

Ince will NEVER be a team player, as long as I have a hole in my aris.

    Double bugger.

    1. Will Hughes is leaving.

    2. We're a smaller club than Watford.

    Furk.

Got the impression that he ( Rowett) didn't fancy either Hughes or Ince so to see one or both go wouldn't be a shock..
Price is another thing altogether 5 mill for Hughes seems low although I wonder if they might be offering cash plus a player!
Two skilled and creative players for sure but at the end of the day their contributions have not been big enough for us to dominate teams and get out this division.
I'm betting Rowett considers them both too lightweight.

We're being linked with all and sundry now by the media, Glenn Whelan from Stoke.

Just a thought, if there is the remotest chance of there being any truth in it GR appears to putting a team together just to get us promoted, but as for staying there.........

The speculation about Whelan raises an interesting question. Who is the more likely to drive a successful promotion push ? Glen Whelan or Will Hughes ?

I have absolutely no inside track on this, but I'm beginning to suspect GR prefers the Whelan type.

Everyone we are being linked with are professional, hard working, run through a brick wall types. That is sensible for getting out of this league; that is our primary goal. I have no worries that Mel will splash the cash if we get up.

He can certainly look after himself. I doubt that Ince or Keogh would wave their arms at himw twice! Apparently he's a mate of George Thorne's.

Although he is 28, a Troy Deeney / Will Hughes swap might be a decent deal (given that Will Hughes doesn't seem to be a major part of GR's plans).

Be more inclined to keep Ince than Hughes... Didn't Liverpool offer us £10-15 Million a couple of years ago for Hughes??? Now we be lucky to get £6 Million.....Bugger!!!! Bang head

Whelans been a regular in the premier for the last 9 years, another 30+ player but like others said, he's a grafter/battler rather than the flair of hughes

Derby County shock second favourites to sign Aston Villa's Jordan Amavi

Jordan Amavi (23) plays left back but can also play LM and LW, so maybe a bit like Anya.
He was capped by France at U18 up to U21 level.
He cost Villa £9.35m from Nice in July 2015.

The rumour is probably nonsense but here's the source -

    Here is the city

Watford are reported to be closing in on an £8m swoop for Derby County midfielder Will Hughes.

According to The Daily Telegraph, negotiations are at an advanced stage and the clubs are expected to agree a fee for the 22-year-old "in the next few days".

Sounds like the multi-talented DCFC negotiation team is about to be shafted again.

Hughes is an England international at his age level FFS, and he's worth a lot more than £8m. What's the going rate for a young, experienced left footed international midfield player ?

Watford turned us over once before when we forked out £8m for that waste of space Vydra. i would suggest that Hughes is worth a lot more than that.
