Do we? GT, BJ, Hanson, Baird, Butterfield and Bryson can all play there in a 1-4-2-3-1 formation. 6 players for 2 positions should be enough.

You say that, but Butterfield and Bryson want to mover further up the pitch, Baird will be wanted as cover on the bench, Hanson has yet to prove he is playing at the level required, and BJ doesn't necessarily have the intelligence and vision to do it effectively.

I think having someone that specialises as a DM for if GT is not as sharp/gets injured would be a priority if using that system. Round pegs in round holes.

In a disciplined DM2, when one has a foray forward, the other stays back so Bryson and Butters CAN do the job although I would always have a GT/BJ/Hanson alongside one of them and not have them as the DM pairing.

Hanson? Season before last when given a few games showed he can cut it at this level.

It's being reported that we are about to meet Tom Huddlestone's £2m release clause.

For me this would be great. I hear the want for pace and skill in midefield but we have tried that and for years we have been too lightweight and pushovers in that area when games got physical and we had no plan B to handle it.

we have been out muscled out to much in games especially midfield and Tom would be ideal for this. his years away on loan Wink to spurs and hull will benefit us with his experience. yer wil be good signing more i think of it

Rowett is talking of patience and waiting for one or two weeks for certain clubs to make a decision, which is all well and good as long as we end up with somebody but I fear that we could end up missing out on back up targets as well as first choice targets if we just wait around.

Foxes in Hong Kong for a week and a bit still. Patience needed on this one.

Although Christie was in training camp with us overseas ( not as far as HK obviously) whilst all the speculation and subsequent deal was agreed.

There doesn't seem to be any basis for this, though. The Daily Mail story doesn't even claim a source. It could be completely made up

.... and Will was away with the U21s. Maybe we are the only club that sells players when everybody is away LOL

To be fair Amster, the difference is that we are trying to sell, whereas by the sounds of it we are trying to buy players who may still be wanted by their clubs.

I don't know a massive amount about Matty James. Is he worth £4m? It strikes me that his states a near identical to Will's last season, so it seems a little odd to buy a player for a not dissimilar price tag to what we sold Hughes for.

Personally I think that it's more likely that we are after Lawrence, either permanently or on loan. I reckon Leicester will be taking a look at him in their training camp and deciding whether he fits into their plans.

I've been saying for weeks we should sign Leadbitter...and then you have a player who has captained a team to promotion out of this league...

James missed the 2015/16 season after rupturing his anterior ligaments and was
given plenty of time to get fully fit again (might be an idea DCFC could try?).
Was he injured a lot before that, or was another player preferred over him?

He then played in all of Barnsley's games after joining them on loan in January.

I can see why Boro might want to sell Leadbitter - they have better players and he rarely played
in their PL team - but not why we need to sign a player clearly on his way down. I'm not convinced
that buying our rivals cast offs is the way to build a promotion side.

Surely there must be promising younger players somewhere in the world?

Leadbitter is an anti foitballer, and he reminds me of the most boring football I've ever seen for Middlesborough under the terminally tedious Karanka so personally I'd rather not.

I wonder if some of this is just a smoke screen. Teams know we've had an influx of cash recently, so by bouncing lots of names around for the same position, are we trying to weaken the bargaining position of selling clubs? "That price is too high, we'll move onto our next target".

I too would hope we are looking down the leagues for up and coming players as well - not just injured ones from St Mirren either.
