the only way they will be out of the building is if we pay off their contracts (massive FFP implications) or pay a substantial part of their wages to the receiving club

Over£20m of transfer fees and stupid wages down the toilet for the next 2-3 years...

Out of contract next season, £3-4mill at most with a sell on, £7mill+ is far too much

I'd prefer Jota at that kind of price personally.

Personally I would go back with a few more hundred quid.
Well a bit more than that...I think we need his goal scoring and his speed and I don't see what else is out there.
Unless there are some rock star loans..because right now I think we are going to be way too predictable and easy to read.

I think from what I've seen from Jota, he has pace, goals and more experience than Lawrence.

Don't get me wrong I'd happily take Lawrence but I think that there are more guarantees with Jota, if there can be guarantees in football, and despite what their manager said I reckon Brentfords hand will be forced this summer if he doesn't sign a new contract. They operate a 'moneyball' system so there is no way that they will risk losing him for nothing next summer when he is out of contract.

I thought Jota was quality when I saw him and so would probably agree with you Loughie.
But I cannot deny that a slight case of panicittuss is setting in for me Afraid
I'm trying to fight it off ...I'm really pulling for Rowett but I fear if we start off with one paced predictably the moaning crew will have a field day.

I think the midfield is now the weakest link - when picking the side for the blunderland game Huddlestone was nailed on but the rest - I like Bryson but I don't think he has returned to peak Bryson and Johnson and Butterfield are both expensive mistakes.

If we could get Jota that would be great and I would rather we spent the £7m on him. But both would be nice.

Seems we are ignoring FFP then.....

Its that stage of the window when everyone is holding firm whilst mentally juggling. ....... hanging onto fringe players whilst the future of their first team players sorts itself out. We are waiting for the domino effect to kick in.... hopefully at Leicester. As are many clubs. Unfortunately this makes for the potential to miss out on players and time can run out before deals complete.

    Isn't this just normal negotiation.

Shakespeare: "I don't know what Lawrence would cost, ideally I'd like to keep him" we want more money, if anybody else is interested then you need to bid over £7m

Rowett: " we have a price that we will go to to buy players and we won't go over that figure, at that point we may have to move on to other targets". don't take the p*ss, we know he's for sale and we know that we are close to the figure you want

I think that if we want him badly enough we can get him, however if we dither he may end up elsewhere. In my opinion, we may wait until the weekend (playing hard to get) but after that we will be talking to Leicester trying to hammer out a deal, and I think that we may well still get him.

Then perhaps they can look forward to getting nothing for him in the summer.

What we need is for us to batter Sunderland tomorrow night and demonstrate to the fat little joker down the road that we're not that desperate.

His behaviour reminds me of the trouble we had with that Swansea chairman all those years ago. Hopefully GR has more players on his list. Time to move on.

I heard we're looking at Preston's Callum Robinson. But I'm not sure there's anything substantial in this. Similar stats to Ince last year - so wouldn't be a bad addition.
