Well let's face it unless we are buying from divisions below us the odds of us buying another teams first choice players are slim to none.
Hopefully Rowett sees him as an important piece of the puzzle on and off the field.

We are reportedly interested in David Cotrill from Birmingham after he has been told he can leave.

His first half performance against us last season whilst on loan at Bristol City, was the best I witnessed last season. He absolutely ran the game for them. If that is the player on offer then yes please, not sure though whether he has that in him on a consistent basis but I guess Rowett knows him inside out, so let's see.

My conclusion is.. we need a squad of players that will run through walls for the gaffer.. and that's exactly the type of players we're being linked with.

They might not be exciting names, but how many names in the Huddersfield team are exciting? How many names in the Bournemouth team were exciting? How many names in the Boro squad were exciting? I dont think exciting gets you promoted - consistency and hard work gets you promoted.

there is always a team of grafters that does well in this division - then you need more quality IF you get promoted - seems like he is putting some steel and backbone into our team of talented prima donnas - hopefully that will be the blend that gets us promoted.

Look at the team that Jim Smith got promoted with, mainly a team of hard workers (Stimac the possible exception). After years of expensive young talent we finally went up without too many flair players

GR will have his targets...... or should have at any rate. I can't see anything wrong in getting players you want asap rather than wait until you have offloaded any from your don't want list. Wait and they will have been snapped up by somebody else.

Remember how slow the poisoned dwarf was following promotion? Do you really want that situation again?

Get players you want in when they can be got and exit the dead wood when you can...... as long as you can afford to.

Does the following quote indicate/suggest that we really were looking at Aaron Mooy or am I reading too much into it?

Gary Rowett wrote:“If you start with five targets at the beginning of the window in each area then often you can lose two or three of them for various reasons.

“For example, we might have been interested in a player who were in the play-offs and if one of them teams get promoted then suddenly those targets become not available any more.

You were not reading too much into it 'Ammy we should be interested in a player of that quality but it now seems that he would want to ply his trade in the Prem. (Who can blame him?) so he is not now attainable.

Let's move on to the next target.

According to reports we are interested in selling Will Hughes with Watford and Brighton said to be interested. The fee........£4m! Four million quid????????

I can accept selling Will but at £2m less than we paid for Bradley Johnson, and about the same as we paid for the human crab, Jacob Butterfield. And at a time when transfer fees are going through the roof, this would be an utter p*ss take.

If this is true, we cant even blame Sam Rush!
Mel, seriously, our crown jewel has been touted at Barcelona and Liverpool for £15m in the past, and he's still very young...£4m ...you are having a laugh

I cant see us selling Hughes for £4m given he is an established player for a leading championship side (so we keep being told) and England under 21 international.

We also got £10m for Hendrick so that should be the minimum

The Daily Telegraph's John Percy writes today that Derby have bid £1m for ANDRE WISDOM.

So is Wisdom the "one more defender" that Gary Rowett wants to sign?
He spent last season at Red Bull Salzburg and mainly plays at right back, though he has played
occasionally at centre back and left back.

There's a rumour in the Derby Telegraph that Sheffield Weds want to sign RICHARD KEOGH.

Captained the U21s last time out. Is, in terms of senior games played, by far the most experienced player in the squad. Captain for the tournament?

Just back from 2 weeks away. Delighted with Curtis Davies. Would welcome Cotterill, exactly what we need in midfield. George Boyd? No thanks.

Opening bid. Already been turned down if the press are to be believed. 'Pool are reported to want £4M for him. If we are serious about wanting him then we will have to stump up somewhere between £2M and £3M.

Good to see GR isn't going in, gung ho, with his top bid as the opener.
