How much would you pay for live streamed home matches?

Post by MadAmster on Fri 05 May 2017, 9:39 am

I have limited this to home games as we don't have the rights to away games.

I would say between £5 and £7.50 a game is about right which is £125 to £150 a season.

I've gone for £100, but would happily pay between £100-£150.

Is this something that may happen, or is this more speculative?

Wasn't there some kind of survey about a while ago, that looked like it was market testing by the club? It's possible I dreamt it, of course, though it would be a boring thing to dream!

It may happen. There was a survey recently. DCFC are ditching Rams Player and will, presumably, be replacing it with either another service togeteher with other clubs or one of their own.

In the article on the OS about tonight's live U23 match being streamed live by the club I read the following.......
DCFC OS wrote:In addition to watching the Rams’ top Academy age group in action, supporters watching the live stream will also be able to take in the production service they can expect to see more of in the future.

That leads me to think that there may well be something along these lines next season. It doesn't strike me as financially viable to restrict it to U23 and below so I am speculating that, if not next season, certainly in the season after the current TV deal ends, we will see the Rams making live 1st team video available.

The answer to tgfd's question is..... speculation based on club comments that may well happen.

There was a survey about the time Morris mooted the mid-season 'friendly' game with Weeds.

Bit of a difficult one this

Make it too cheap and it may out people off going to the game live, make it too expensive and not many will take up the offer

Guess it is good for those who live overseas or long way from Derby

Maybe this might shed some light on the matter, I was going to post the link before as I thought our overseas contingent would be interested.

£110 for the entire season. If i wasn't already an STH of sorts through Rams Player, this will surely grant me STH status.

Further investigation shows that the new service excludes televised games so it's £110 for maybe 36 games which is 3 quid a throw.

It will probably include all the stuff we currently get on Player so it is, IMO, one hell of a bargain.

I don't know if the technology exists to have the same service at different prices for UK and non UK subscribers, but I expect it does.

Maybe a fiver a game if one off, but a reduced rate for a UK based "season ticket" ? I'd rather the coffers go directly to my club than the EFL.

This deal is for overseas fans only.

Money, as ever , is the driving force. Clubs can get cash from overseas fans that they currently don't have. Overseas only to avoid UK inhabitants paying £3 a game online instead of whatever they would pay at the gate.

There are also a number of fans who watch their own team at home but don't travel away. Some of those go to other matches locally on away days. Many would stay home and watch their team for next to nowt online rather than go to another club's live game

No doubt there will be a way for the UK residents to access the same streams by time of launch. Not that i would ever condone such behaviour of course.

Ah now this is the dogs nuts...although I suspect the commentary will be crap but beggars can't be choosers.
Just need a decent team now.

Video was very acceptable last night. The occasional hiccough but much better quality than the usual streams. This was a trial so expect improvements on both the video and the commentary.
