    First round of Championship playoffs

Post by SawleyRam on Sun 14 May 2017, 5:22 pm

Very poor with atrocious refereeing in the Fulham vs Reading game by Stuart Twatwell (How does he stay on the list?).

Parking of the bus and time wasting from the off seems to be the flavours of the day. Lets hope the next round will involve more intent from all four sides.

Didn't waste a second watching either game. One of my better choices LOL roll

In all honesty, the only one that remotely interests any of us would be Fulham. The obvious link being Coldplay who was subbed after an hour of, apparently, little effort and less interest.

Depending on your point of view. We either want Fulham to fail so that he isn't tempted to stay there or we want them to go up, him play a crucial role, they still want him and he decides to stay there so we get the extra £6.5M.

Oh David Nugent, Oh David Nugent, we found him in Preston, we found him in Preston, we found him in Preston at the side of the road in a Volkswagen beetle............

Thought he did ok tbh, usual intelligent off the ball movement, decent control, comprehensive lack of physical pace outweighed by the first yard in his head as usual.

Had he stayed on against 10 men I think his fulcrum strengths would probably have won them the game.

The League 2 play off teams showed the right way to play from a neutrals point of view

All 4 teams went out to win the first leg not defend

So it's going to be one of two powerhouse teams going up....along with Brighton.
Despite Brightons wealthy backer two teams will go up with Newcastle who are hardly giants of the game.

Gary Rowett should definitely stick to management rather than becoming a tipster
if his forecasts for the playoffs are anything to go by!
He thought Fulham and Wednesday would win.

The results were very close but Huddersfield and Reading were ahead of all but
the top two for most of the season, so it shouldn't have been a big surprise.

I hope Huddersfield go up - we have a much better results against Reading lately.

Huddersfield have a couple of players who could make a big difference to us the German centre-half and the midfielder Mooy, they would give us extra power and personality that we need desperately, right-back as well another who would improve us. If they stay down we might be able to nip a good player or two off them.

5 of the top 6 have foreign managers. In the premier league ALL the top 8 have foreign managers. Maybe it's their mentality....

Agree with all three suggestions, but I'd say their most important player was Hogg. Nasty little sh%t but he protects their back four and doesn't give the opposition a second of peace. whilst somehow often staying just the right side of the ref to avoid being sent off.

Ideal partner for GT in a 4231.

Annoying for me seeing Mooy going to Man City on the cheap as are many other internationals from countries other than the British Isles or Western Europe. They aren't as many quality players and may not be brilliant in the Messi class but there are more than enough that are pretty good and have a decent work ethic. Certainly worth more than the Blackman's and Salmon's Frustrated

Weird career so far the lad, aged 26:

    09-10 Bolton 0 appearances
    10-12 St Mirren 21 apps
    12-14 Sydney 49 apps
    14-16 Melbourne 53 apps

16 saw him signed by Citeh and loaned out to Huddersfield (47 apps). Did any other club go for him at Melbourne or was it just the Mancs?

What odds would you have got on both ties finishing 6-5 with the winner in the 94 minute in both games

If you get it, you get it, if you don't, you don't. In these days of cynicism, anything that looks "out of the ordinary" is treated to doubt. In this case there has been no claims in the press or online. 2 promotion semi finals both end 6-5 with the winning goal in the 94th minute. What are the odds on that?

I had hoped that the emoji would indicate the sarcasm, obviously it didn't.........
