    Bradley Johnson comments

Post by thatguyfromderby on Tue 20 Jun 2017, 9:01 am

Bradley Johnson has given quite an illuminating interview. It reads to me as if he either wants to leave, or has been told he's surplus to requirement. Either way.. it doesn't sound like he's all that happy at Derby "City".

    Interview with Norwich Evening News:

"I'd say it's the best time of my career and I'll never forget that, especially the promotion year (on his time at Norwich)"

"I always wanted to play in the Premier League and I fulfilled that dream at Norwich. I said I wanted to get them back there (after relegation in 2013-14) and I stuck by my word, when other players left and I could've left.

"It's a great club. I enjoyed it there, I started my family there, my little boy still always wears his Norwich kits and stuff like that.

"Delia Smith (the club's joint majority shareholder) made it very family-orientated for us and the wives. It's not just about the lads who are playing each week, because we go home to our wives and they've got to be happy as well. Delia made sure they were happy and took them on outings all the time, and I'm sure they're still doing that now.

"It was disappointing how I left and it coming out of the blue. I'd never begrudge anyone running football like a business and I didn't have any hard feelings about leaving – I was just disappointed because my main aim was to get Norwich promoted and then stay in the Premier League, and I wanted to be a part of that.

"Football is about opinions. I'm at Derby now and I've got two more years left here. Hopefully, I see them out and then you never know what can happen. If Norwich came in for me, I'd never turn them down, anyway."

His interview on the DCFC official site gives a different perspective though. Maybe he's just playing to the respective audiences. I guess he'll stay and do a job, or go and do a job, depending on who wants him. I don't imagine he ha any particular loyalty to Derby, or that many players do really.

they can have him as long as we break even on FFP - never really done it for us and never ever looked like a £6m player

It's odd really, a bit out of the blue. It's like we've missed the memo telling him he's free to go.

Like I said, the Official Site interview is completely different. He might just have been saying nice things to the Norwich supporters...

Something of nothing, reporters ask him would he ever go back and he says he would love to. End of. Nothing to read into there for me.
