Some cynics might suggest that the Rams just wanted lots of peoples details by asking them to register without getting the game

Wonder if Fozzy playing in the middle is a long term prospect.
Might be a less hazardous position/role ( if there is one) for that leg.

From the way the team was listed it looked like Olsson was playing in the middle. Wonder where Rawson was

Missed the first half hour as I was busy. Apparently very lively with some good interchanges involving Coldplay.

2nd half, different XI, lots of possession, scored one (Bent from a Blackman assist) Mitchell had just the one save to make and did. Wisdom wasn't troubled, Pearce was OK, Davies did what he had to and also pointed and cajoled in his role as skipper, Callum Mcdonald impressed, not much to say on Hanson and Butterfield... Vydra, Bent and Russell should all have scored, Blackman had the assist and a shot that went 20 yards over the bar.

1st pre season is all about minutes on the park and getting no injuries. We got that and a 4-0 win to boot. 1st half team had more about them than the 2nd half team in general.

1-4-2-3-1 2nd half. Not sure what it was first..... probably the same.

Yes 4231 all game. Looks like a good plan..now I see why Hughes and Ince were sold...currently...carson, wisdom, Keogh, Davies, forsyth; Thorne, johnson; Bryson, Nugent, Bennett; Martin.. would be my 11..obviously many alternatives with 3 players for most positions in our very large squad

4231  gives us Martin, Nugent and (if we really have to) Bent as three options for the front man.

We desperately need another DM with that system as our first choice one though.

Class finish from Our Number Nine.

I always say that intelligent players are naturally drawn to each other within a team and that was born out in the first half with Bryson, Nugent and Martin looking very sharp and very in tune with each other, even at this early stage of pre season. Keep those three fit and we could be very well entertained this season.

    Three points........

    1. The quality of the video was absolutely top class. Outstanding. If that is what we ex pats are going to get for matches this season then anything up to £150 for the season will be great value.

    2. Squad size. GR has stated that he wants to go from the 29/30 we had last season, down to 23/24/25. Last night we saw 22 players on the park. Another 4 weren't involved (GT, Lowe, Shacks and Anya). Another 5 were on the bench and may be considered fringe players as some have had 1st team experience and the others are on the verge (all of those 5 will probably be U23 regulars or out on loan, IMO). He has also stated 2 or 3 more in. That would seem to validate the thought that a few of us have posted that about half a dozen more can be expected to be sold/loaned out/have their contract cancelled.

    3. Two halves of 1-4-2-3-1. Sensible to keep the same formation to see how people fare against similar opposition. Will we see the same at Macclesfield on Saturday or will he mix and match and look at 1-3-5-2/1-1?

Nice to be talking football again rather than the vaguaries of press transfer speculation.

I don't see all the fuss about mcdonald. I felt he did OK. Early part of his performance was littered with being dominated by the opposition. He did improve towards the end and I was impressed with that put in perspective I would say the competition was about his level off that performance.

Vydra was a disappointment for me also, he just doesn't seem to be able to get the ball under control. Blackman had me thinking great things at the start of the second half, good running on and off the ball and some good passing but then it tailed off to stray passes and losing possession, is his heart really in it?

Davies looked a class above, everything just looks like it comes easy to him.

Looking forward to Macc on Saturday to have a close up view of them from the stands.

As stated in a previous post that match was all about minutes on the the pitch but I just couldn't help noticing how the first half 11 seemed to have better touch and control than the second half lot.

Still non the wiser though about captain for the coming season as GR kept Keogh & Davies apart. We'll have to see if there is any clues in the next friendly on Saturday.

Agree, it's the first time out in pre-season and one half shouldn't make or break anyone of course. Remember Junior free scoring in pre-season that year, didn't he get 6 in one game or something silly?
