I didn't see anything outstanding last night nor did I expect to first friendly and all that.
As Loughie said there was some sweet interaction between Martin Nugent and Bryson although I do wonder how the personalities of Martin and Nugent will mix long term.
Nothing flash on display last night nor do I expect there to be throughout the season.
I think this season is basically going to be about Rowett establishing his philosophy on the team and club.
Getting rid of those players that he knows will not give him what he requires and bringing in ones he can mold.
Consequently I expect nothing more than a grind of a season I think we will be back to a Nigel type era both with a little more cash and a tad more personality.
I hope the moaning fans that are out there shut the **** up and just give Rowett time and a chance.

    that is bullshit..pardon the french.
Football is in the here and now, no time is given to build etc, success has to be instant.
We are still buying top players, and will continue to..so Mel has backed Rowett,Rowett will need to deliver this season.
It wont be a Nigel Clough rebuilding, cutting wage bills and languishing in the bottom half, with mid table the next season etc,
It will be, a promotion push every year until we achieve it...or until Mel has enough..in which case we would need to worry.
However, we have the players to do this, and with a couple of additions, i'm sure we will be up there challenging.

amazing how you have the ability to know everything valakari - FFS you cant even pick a decent player as your internet warrior name :-)

I will be a rams fan regardless of if we are being cheated out of a European Cup final place by bastard Italians or playing shite clogball in the third division (both of which have happened in my lifetime) - I am being realistic about next season - if Rowett develops a team that is greater than the sum of its parts in one transfer window then fantastic if not I am not going to slash my wrists.

Rob, that is not my point..i agree with all you have said...but the point is, Mel won't give him time..1 season if he gets us in the play offs, another if he gets us up...its the nature of successful businessmen..they are ruthless.

In my opinion Mel needs to slow down and breathe.
I have to believe he will have learned his lesson from the recent debacles.
And that he will give Rowett a chance what ever the results.
Got to imagine he and Rowett actually get on unlike his predecessors and that Morris has wised up and given up on the kitchen sink throwing and there is more of a long term plan that involves moving out weak and possibly disruptive players and bringing in players with the right characteristics to suit Rowetts plans and visions.
All of which will take time and a bit of turnover.
