Right now as it stands a dourly ground out top half finish.
But things could change with a couple of incoming players.

I think that right now we have a play off team and if we cut the bullsh*t about being patient and get on and sign 2 quality forward thinking players I think that the top 2 are in reach.

I went 3-6 because I'm becoming less convinced about out determination to sign those extra 2 players.

going to stick with my 8 to 10 and therefore click the 7-12 - we will be workman like tight but no creativity to unlock teams and captain calamity and zonal marking will cost us in tight games

Out of the top 6 if Keogh is leading the way and Rowett insists on playing Butterfeet. At the moment, I am going to go for 7-12, a few additions before the close of the window will obviously alter my thoughts.

10 bad results .......player fracas...Manager gone ......Chairman gone...club floundering..sinking lower and lower and lower as a succession of rubbish managers come in with a final flurry under Harry Houdini buying players we cant afford and the club sinking into receivership.

I have gone playoffs but there are obviously a lot of question marks at the start of the season and we are definitely lacking options out wide.
We appear to have made the defence more solid but seem to have drifted back to the formation that hasn't got us promoted for the last 4 seasons.

we have gone 4-3-3 which allows Butterfield to play....wrongly imo.
Think with what we have a 4-2-3-1 would suit more with Nugent in behind Martin....and no Butterfield in site

The closer we get to Friday I'm more and more lamenting the fact we have not added more speed and mobility in midfield.
Still think we will be too slow and immobile in midfield and run the risk of getting run over.

Present team still need more support from midfield and another genuine striker option. Which of those will be added in January is a guessing game but by then I think we will be in striking distance of a playoff place with the January signing to give the Rams the edge needed to finally get the play offs to pay off!

With a 433 based around Martin and Keogh as captain, you would have to expect a moderate start, excellent form from October to January, putting us in 3rd. Followed by a new year collapse and a steady roll back down the table finishing around 12th.

With this squad, formation and captain, 10th would be about par for the course.

The irony is that with this squad and a different formation/captain, I'd say 6th would be disappointing.

Can we keep this thread open until the end of August for revised positions, subject to personnel and formation change please??

Last season we scored fewer goals than any side in the top half of the table, and so far GR has sold our top scorer and failed to strengthen our attacking options. This may change before the end of the month, but right now I don't see any reason for wild optimism about the play offs. Top half looks a more likely bet.

We look a bit better defensively, but defence wasn't our biggest problem last season. We need to create more chances for the striker(s) and it's hard to see anyone but Huddlestone providing the bullets.

And then there's the decision to make Keogh captain...
