    Gone Dutch

Post by New England Ram on Thu 07 Sep 2017, 10:50 am

Anyone seen or heard an interview or had a sighting of our new signing from Brum ?
I know he was away in Holland when they signed him but absolutely nothing from him that I have seen.

Other than someone saying on Twitter that they had heard there were complications with the deal !

Not seen him on my travels and not seen/heard anything of any problems with the deal.

The only thing I can think of is that there may be a hiccough with getting international clearance although, as he is an EU citizen, there shouldn't be any problem there.

It appears that it was how late he was signed on deadline day that is a problem.

A club statement says that the transfer has not been ratified and the player has returned to Birmingham City.

The club received a request from the EFL for clarification of the documentation regarding the transfer earlier this week. Following discussions between Derby and the EFL, the league on Tuesday refused to authorise the permanent registration of the player.

Derby County then appealed the decision and the EFL have today reported back that their Board have upheld the ruling - therefore the player has returned to the West Midlands.

We believe sufficient transfer documentation was completed before the 11pm deadline last Thursday and appropriate supplemental forms followed a short while later, due to the player and agent being in different locations. However following clarification from the EFL, their view is that the full criteria was not met for the transfer to be accepted. Given the circumstances, we reluctantly accept the EFL’s adjudication.

A Derby County spokesman said: “This scenario highlights the challenges of the transfer window. All clubs would prefer to complete dealings earlier, but as clubs try to fine tune their squads this inevitably creates last-minute scenarios. We would like to place on record our thanks for the help and assistance of Birmingham City Football Club throughout this process.”

I wonder whether some of the Premiersh*t big boys would have these kind of problems, both clubs and the player are now in a situation where nobody benefits.

Looks like we will have to wait for January....... That scuppers everybody's starting XI predictions. It will remain 1-4-2-3-1 IMO and be, barring injuries, Carson: Wisdom, Keogh, Davis, Olsson: Hudds, BJ: Lawrence Vydra Weimann: Nugent.

Brilliant..only could Derby be the ones to do this. We get rid of our midfield and replace too late. On a brighter note, we managed to bolster our striking options with another not needed forward.

Something at the back of my mind a couple of windows ago, one of the so called bigger clubs made a signing after the allotted time and that was allowed.

    Can anyone recall it?

I can remember that happening, but cannot recall the Premier Club involved or who the player was. Just thought at the time, one rule for the big clubs ...... and with what's happened today, there we have it. Anger

Leicester have been having problems with the transfer of Adrien Silva from Sporting Lisbon. Not just us that have problems with the transfer deadline but not surprising that a transfer of our's is affected - this is also part of the Derby Way. On a side note, do clubs REALLY HAVE to leave it until the dying moments of the window to get deals done!?! Even if they got things done by teatime of the final day they could all breathe a little easier. Seems to me like clubs collectively strive to make life difficult for themselves.

Really is ridulous leaving to the last seconds..i bet there's a bit of an atmosphere between Rowett and whoever was responsible for securing the deal .....if it was me I'd be asking for their head...

Yeah keep an eye on the Fester situation cause if money talks and they somehow push that through it's stamp our feet time.

I remember it only too well. There was also that bizarre attempt in 1989 by Robert Maxwell to 'bring' two Czech internationals (Lubos Kubik and Ivo Knoflicek) to the club. We were told they were signing for Derby only to find out that their club, Slavia Prague, knew nothing about it. No paperwork existed and the two players were basically trying to escape to the West. It never went through.

There was nearly a diplomatic incident about that episode, so the nonsense with this Birmingham lad is just following in the tradition of Derby snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so to speak.
