It takes a strong personality to be able to write such a piece. It takes something special to put it into the public sphere.

Cancer is such an awful condition/disease and everybody knows someone who has contracted/developed it. It affects everybody. It needs eradicating.

Here's hoping Patrick's time among us is as pain free as possible.

Hats off to him for finding the time and energy to play such an active role at his club whilst having to deal with such issues in his private life.

Not turning this into a political  or social post but I volunteer as a fundraiser for a cancer care unit and know personally of people and relatives who are affected by this life eating disease.

I think that now Mister Cyrne has done the the acceptance and has let the world know, he has promoted a great service to the battle against this onerous illness.

I wish Patrick Cyrne, family and all friends an understanding of his terminal trauma.
