Suggestions that he may play this weekend. I'd be surprised to see him start -but if he's fit enough, he may give us that bite we need in the middle.

If they are running through the middle of us it would be a bit daft to leave the barn door sitting on the bench.

Mason did enough, IMO, to keep Weimann out at Brentford tomorrow. Winnall in for Nuge as well.

I'd also play Winnall but I wouldn't be expecting too much of him. To reproduce the amount of energy that he showed in his substitute appearences, over the course of a 90 minute match would be impossible, so as fans we need to be realistic with our expectations.

I qualify it as an Alan Durban type game. He didn't really hit the eye but then you think about it and there was that tackle, that interception......... and, of course, the goal.

IMO he did really well in managing his game. He knows he isn't match fit so he paced himself well. However, I think he will be on the bench at Cardiff as we won't be able to afford "game management", especially if we defend deep and pass poorly as we have in the last 3 or 4 games.

Barring injuries of which we are not aware, I think we will see the same back 5, BJ alongside Tom H, Vydra and Nuge back in. Weimann to stay in if, as I suspect, Bennett is out for 5 or 6 weeks.

Having said that, Winnall doesn't deserve dropping after last night's performance

It's a desperate measure to sign him to see us through to January.
Despite his goal I can't see him being any more effective than any of our other slow immobile mids.

If he can be played again with his so called lack of match fitness why is George Thorne still being "nursed through"? Because GR don't want him that's why! It's time the best player we have left on our books was in! We are going to get the run around from a lot of teams with Tuesday's line up.

Or it may be the fact that GR has just come from a a whole season of sitting out with a very serious injury and not just a few months away from match action over summer.

Thorne is in tonight's U23 starting XI to play at Brum, along with Shackell and Anya.
The game should be on Rams tv.

Thorne only managed 15 minutes in the U23 match against Everton a fortnight ago,
so he may still have a bit of an injury problem and they're taking no chances.

It was illness that forced him off against the Toffees so no injury to flare up again with any luck.
