I personally think that Rowett is handling George Thornes rehabilitation perfectly. We have seen before what happens when you rush players back before they are ready.

Unfortunately I just don't think we will ever see the same George Thorne as we did prior to us signing him permanently.

GR admitted himself that he pushed George in pre season, and as a consequence, by inference, that it was a mistake.

I don't care if we don't see him until Christmas, as long as he is 100% right when he does play.

Except he played him at Barnsley in the cup..a fellow championship team...so surely put him on the bench and give him minutes..

Spot on GR  (and of course, MA).

There were moments at Barnsley, but few and far between, and he looked off the pace.

The point of playing him there (with the second string) is that it didn't matter if we lost, or if he only had 20 mins in his legs and had to come off.

Why risk the disruption in a league game?

Following more remarks about GT now apparently being ony 2 or 3 weeks away form being ready, has BJ's needless card (probably given more for his attitude to the ref than the foul itself) opened the door for a GT return to the fold against the tree hugging Red Dogs?

If I remember correctly it wouldn't be the first time...........

Am I alone in thinking that signing Ledley on a proper contract is a no-brainer
    unless he's too expensive?

I know GR wants Kieftenbeld but he's hardly in Ledley's class. He'd be a good
back up but, if he can't get into Brums's team, he's not going to improve ours.

I'd love to think that Thorne will be fully fit soon and able to play a full season,
but I wouldn't risk a quid on it. He's been very unlucky, but some players seem
to be dogged by bad luck all their careers. There's probably some reason for it
    that's not recognized and/or can't be treated.

Broken legs...unlucky me thinks..although I still blame Wassal for playing him against McCarthys thugs when we were already in the play offs!

It's not just the broken leg, is it though?
Thorne is 24 years old and he's made just 85 league appearances for 5 clubs.
Vydra, who is only a few months older than Thorne, has made almost twice as many.
One player seems to be rather injury prone, while the other is not.

I'd love it if Thorne got 100% fit and developed further from his original form for us,
because he promised so much, but imho it's no good relying on his fitness any more.
We need a reliable, fit DM now. Whether the club keeps Thorne is another question.

    You do indeed, MA.

I recall being horrified when Eustace got a silly booking in the dying minutes at Ipswich (?), a team in blue, in a similar fashion.

Only that time Martin sneaked a winner....

If GT does make a start it might be an idea to have a silly tenner on 5-0 ...................

he done well to play 70m against Brenton then 90 on Saturday. hes impressed a lot and was one of the players that you can say he gives his all.

worrying point is he is in shop window at derby and he will be playing is heart out for a contract in January...... whether it be here or somewhere else.
