We are now linked to Danny Ings for the next window, what are your thoughts?

Apparently we're not the only ones. Newcastle and Southampton are also linked with him.

Sadly, it could be goodbye to Sam Winnall if it happens.

He's a very good striker but has been injured a lot since his move to Liverpool. We currently have 4 strikers vying for a place in the team and Darren Bent to return as well. Add to that Mel intimated there's unlikely to be any marquee signings in January and I see this as a non-starter.

It would be a loan me thinks...good player at this level...we would have enough firepower to sink the league..just hope we can give them the ball!

Yes, he'd be a good signing. We'd have to get rid of two of Nugent, Bent, Winnall and Martin I'd guess, but quality is more important than quantity

Bent and Winnell to go then. Ings playing with Martin excites me..as does Nugent with Vydra! Would be splint for choice...

If this rumour has any truth in it at all it'll be bye bye Johnny Russell.

A little bird told me JR is not a very team motivated, very much the loner.

Trains hard but doesn't join in and goes straight home after, maybe that is why GR dont fancy him Dunno

Read somewhere that JR is in contract talks with the club......

Dings? Played his best football playing off Vokes(?) in the #10 role. Vydra's role. Is he really going to drop down a League and battle against a 12 goals in just ove 1/3 of a season man? I doubt it. If he arrives it will mean Vyds has gone, IMO.

Championship duo Derby County and Sunderland are set to battle it out in January
to sign Dundee United defender Jamie Robson, according to the Derby Telegraph.

The centre-back apparently nearly joined Premier League side Southampton in the
summer but ultimately stayed with Dundee United. He has been impressed for the
Scottish Championship so far this season which has left him on the radar of Derby
    and Sunderland.

Robson, 19, was born in Perth in Scotland and played for Rangers as a youngster.
He joined Dundee United in 2011 and got his first taste of first-team action on loan
    at Brechin City in 2015.

We'd still have Nugent Winnall and Bent of course. I can see Martin going but no-one coming in unless somebody else goes. We certainly don't need four number nines and arguably only need two plus Zanzala and Vernam as emergency back up

All really good teams have 4 strikers.  The best ones have four different style strikers - like (spits) the Manure treble winning side. Sherinhgam, Solskjaer, Yorke and Cole.

Martin, Nuge, Vydra and Winnall are ideal.  I'd swop Nuge for a younger, faster fitter model, but beggars can't be choosers.

I don't see anyone out there in the Martin mould better at our level or below.

Yes, when you're playing two strikers, but I don't think that is true now most teams play one up top. I suppose it depends on how you define striker. I was thinking specifically the number nine. Arsenal, for example, have Giroud and Lacazette, and use a number 10 in Sanchez up top in an emergency. I don't think any of the four I mentioned are number tens, and while we're playing 4231 or 433 I don't see that we need them all.

In all honesty, I expect more out than in and feel that any ins are dependent on more outs. Two out before any in and more out before a 2nd in.

Of one thing I am sure. We need to get away from this 1 up top lark. Strikers always have, and always will, hunt in pairs
