    I have heard rumors but nothing concrete. Right now the US Soccer Federation is in a bit of a flux due to not qualifying. I would not watch something like it either and I dont think a lot of people would which is why it hasn't happened yet.

    I think it is Fox that won the TV rights for the US. Now they haven't made it there won't be many people interested in watching "soccer". That will drastically lower advertising revenue.

    Fox (or whichever station it is) is trying to drum up interest from Italy, Holland and other countries to organise a "tournament" and cut down on their losses.

    I think FIFA won't tolerate competition for their flagship tournament and will tell all involved they will be banned if they take part.
